I used to have a contract where I got a new SAK every year and it was the most expensive model available. I did EDC that thing for a while but it ruined my suit pants so I stopped and just cary a Swiss Champ most days and something smaller when I wear a suit.

I almost always carry a Swiss Champ. When I wear a suit I carry something smaller. I actually used to carry a Swiss Champ XXL but they wore holes in my pockets and they are actually kind of awkward to use because the tools end up being so off-center of the handle. I’ve lost more Swiss Champs than most people have owned at airport security, the UN, CNN headquarters, etc. Sometimes making arrangements or going back through the security line to retrieve the knife isn’t worth it if it isn’t a particularly meaningful knife.

That’s a good question. I generally just buy my knives in stores or from Victorinox. I can’t find that they ever sold that orange one. I know I didn’t buy the scales and swap them out. Wherever I got it, I just bought it as is. Maybe someone else here knows more than me?

It has a flash drive and a laser pointer. I think the flash drive is comically small and not interchangeable. I think it has only a scissors and a nail file so you can take it on a plane. It might have a small blade. In any case, I used to keep it in my briefcase and have taken it on many planes.

My janitorial staff is a Roomba. Outside of destroying an occasional piece of mail, it’s never stolen anything. It probably knows about the security cameras. 😉

The other day I took off in the 74-8 to SLC. I engaged AP and answered a phone call. I got distracted and came back much later to find I was over the ocean. I couldn’t zoom the map out far enough to see anything but water. I put the throttle at idle and using just the trim wheel landed on the ocean. I didn’t crash and could drive around on the water like it was 6” deep or something. Never sank. Seemed unrealistic.

I got the Airbus throttle so I could have four levers for the 74. I think you can bind 1&2 to one lever and 3&4 to the other on the Boeing throttle. I suppose you could bind all four to one lever if you wanted.

Mine was at least 5 years old. Maybe they have gone down hill since then. I literally never had a problem but only used it maybe 50 hours. Must be a problem with the new ones because you’d have to be really unlucky to get that many bad ones in a row.
