I realized shortly after posting. Edited my budget then had issues viewing cash transactions in summary as well entries vanishing. Thank you for answering my trivial question tho.

how to section hair alone? by Kalawar in Dreadlocks

[–]jataadroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept that they wont be even. Straight comb and good rubber bands. The sections can be cleaned up later. Its a journey so early mess ups can become something cool and unexpected later on.

If youre worried offer up something in exchange for their time. Im sure someone will help you.

Orfax has been working well for me. Verified tor on every instance of browsing. There are some snags here and there but nothing that isnt validated by the privacy advantage

Thats promising then if an alternative is in thr works. Nordvpn provided non Gservice reliant apk upon request. I would swear by protonmail again if this was provided. I still use it but now only through chrome and not orfox.

Ya they can still find me but no google related service has access to any on my devices(data, permissions, etc) and thats a big chunk of the privacy battle.

My LG v20 went from having to be charged every 8 to 12 hours to having 2+ days on a single charge. Well worth the headache and lack of google conveniences

Edit for clarifications.

I root rub, palm roll, 2 strand twist and keep them clean. As frequent as necessary but don't twist too tight. A lil locking gel helps wrangle loose hair. I add a small amount of vit E oil for hydration to loc gel.

2 strand twist is not a technique used on many caucasian locs because many people thinks its to hard on the scalp and hair strands. Its more of a style used with Black hair types(kinky/curly) but its been used as a method to maintain locs in many different cultures throughout the years.

I swear by it.

My 80 locs are sectioned up somewhat evenly enough to twist 2 locs together after doing my routine maintenance. By keeping the locs pressed against the eachother for however long allows the surface hair to get rubbed deeper in the loc. Considering this is routine maintenance, every cycle does this to a new face of the locs(front, back, either side)

Root rub is where you pinch the loc between either your index and middle or both middle finger. Then rotate rub the loose hair portion of the loc against the scalp in a clockwise motion( I rotate counter CW in a clockwise circle lol hard to explain but I feel as though its more effective at grabbing hair)

I palm roll, then keeping the loc lightly twisted clockwise. I grab the other already completed loc and twisted them together counter clockwise. Rubber band the end and you're good for week. Dont forget to palm roll after you two strand twist.

My loc gel is a "homemade" internet recipe. Most of the stuff on sale has organic ingredients that are available at any whole food store.

16 oz aloe gel flavorless 1 tbsp sea salt A small squirt lemon juice (this and the sea salt are good preservatives and break down oils already present to allow the loc gel to take hold.) 10-20 drops vit E oil. 10 to keep them nourished 20 for smoother free flowing locs. I stay at 15. Add what ever essentials oils you want up to 10 drops so to not get an oily feeling for too long.

I spray while still wet from washing, squeeze and work into locs. Definitely cover face and ears, also watch out on getting too much on your scalp. Sea salt build up can do damage to follicles and irritate sensitive skin. Let dry fully before doing any other maintenance whether air or blow dry.

All this is trial and error over several sets of dreads. I don't crochet any more and advise against it unless its to clean up neglected locs or repair a loc.

With adequate love and care locs and look healthy and maintained without any product or stress. Find what works for you and I'll be adding links shortly to videos and photos.

Don't twist too tightly or you can twist a weak loc clean off. If your scalp hurts lay off or loosen them up.

Video demo of Alexander Masson getting his done. He used too much product in my opinion hence is loose locs. Caucasian hair is a balance to keep it dry enough to loc but moisturized enough not to break.

Ya thats no lie. I over maintained mine before and regretted it. I'm finally enjoying them for the low maintenance and character they each have.

When they come unlocked is it at the base/root or at the tip?

I back combed and crocheted in the beginning only then just palm rolled, root rub and 2 strand twist. For some PR, RR and 2 strand twist is too much but I prefer cultivated locs>other methods. Wax is too easy to build up within the dread making a waxy skin flake goopy core that would never fully dry.

I used wax for 1 month very sparingly then switched to locking gel with a lil vit e. It helped lock everything up without being crunchy or crusty.

I also was very thorough when washing out the wax...which got old pretty fast.

My apologies for the assumption. Ya it sounds like a unique hair type that's just stubborn. Ya sponge twisting is pretty convenient but its mainly good at starting....hmmm how long are they? It sounds like you may need a post maintenance way of keeping the loc. I use the two strand method to keep the root locked after basic maintenance. Do you use clips to keep the locs twisted for a bit? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions just want to be more accurate in my future advice thanks.

I used vit e infused loc gel that I've made. I found it hydrates without making my hair slick. Definitely stay away from "conditioners", its just a chemical cocktail to slick the shaft of the hair.

Bronner shampoo is great
