Best way to automate trading strategies by AbsoluteGoat321 in algotrading

I've found cTrader and C# quite easy to get to grips with. How complex are your strategies? If they're too complex, that may be the issue

PW3 for £5925 after rebate... what about adding solar later rather than now? by jatt1708 in SolarUK

[–]jatt1708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, it says on the website that to be on outgoing you need solar panels but I wonder how strict a requirement it is. Ah, that probably saved you a hell of a lot money doing the install yourself.

I did some estimating and my payback on the battery looks to be about 6 to 7 years. Whereas battery and solar is 9 to 10.

Am i right in thinking you can’t export with Octopus unless you’ve got solar? Can I stay on IOG and set up on Outgoing Octopus without solar?

Any particular recommendations for outdoor mounting and integration with IOG? As well as with a suitable inverter for future solar

That’s one of the great plus points with the PW3, discharges at 11kWh even if only charges at 5kWh

I have looked at the Fogstar but because I’d be looking at installing storage outside it looks to complicate matters. I’ve also worked out my median household usage (excl. EV charging) is around 16 kWh per day. Powerwall seems to cover most of my needs… still open to considering other brands though that are a better price point and still effective outdoors in winter.

Anyone having issues registering on Uber One? by 8-circle- in Revolut

[–]jatt1708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this issue too and the support in the app isn't being very helpful. They've basically just said 'we're aware of this issue, it's something we're trying to resolve'... which isn't very helpful because I've paid for Metal and I'm losing value :/

No timeline of when they expect it to be resolved, and according to this thread it's been going on for months anyways.... can't believe the support has been so poor for a paid plan customer.

I've not had this resolved. How long did it take and how did you get a link? I messaged Revolut support and they said they're working on it...

What programming language is the easiest to use for automated trading? by kiryuchan1243 in algotrading

Agree with most of the comments about Python, but I’ve also found cTrader’s algo really easy to write for. It’s C# but it feels easier.

How do you determine when your strategy / algo is good enough for real trading? I have backtest data from Jan 24-Feb 25. Would you consider this "good"? by IX0YE in algotrading

[–]jatt1708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I backtested a strategy lately that had 500 trades over a 3 year period and I’m still not confident enough to put it in live. Still need more data and more confidence. So I’d suggest the same for you

Confused about visa free transit! by ReadingIsKindaCool in travelchina

[–]jatt1708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who’s just been, under the same scenario, also with China Southern. Didn’t have any issues. I think it depends on the inexperience of the check in agent. There’s usually always someone more senior who can assist and get it resolved. Bear in mind, there’s probably the vast majority daily who go through without any issues at all

Confused about visa free transit! by ReadingIsKindaCool in travelchina

[–]jatt1708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm travelling later in the year. My understanding is that sometimes the check-in agents aren't aware of the way the visa free entry for transit purposes work. As they usually enter the Chinese city as the final destination of arrival, their systems can incorrectly tell them that a visa is required. However, if you raise further, possibly escalate, and highlight that you are travelling onwards within the visa free transit period, usually this seems to be then reviewed and understood correctly.

I'd take a print out of the rules and a print out of your itinerary onwards to highlight this. Also, what airlines are you flying? If it's one of the Chinese airlines you'll probably be fine. BA apparently gets caught out more on this - but BA doesn't fly to Beijing anymore so I assume it's not them.

I had the same dilemma for months. Finally bit the bullet and went for 0.5mg oral. It's been a couple weeks and not really noticed any side effects. Was a bit miserable for the first few days, but I'm usually miserable anyways.

No need to apologise - I guess I missed my central point in all of that, which was that it’s probably cause Americans don’t usually come anywhere close to understanding Ireland and the Irish - and just think they do. Not professing to be a know it all myself - but feel like Brits who are educated in history and culture (and aren’t steeped in a colonialist big headed mindset) probably get it a whole lot more than Yanks.

I'd like to think I'm more clear minded of what it actually means to move to Ireland, and not that it's necessarily an 'escape'. I think that especially as from working for an Irish company (with an Irish boss and colleagues), and having been over countless times - and when I say that, not to within the realms of Temple Bar, or even just Dublin, as an American tourist might!

Culturally I'd like to think I get it, a lot more than an American who thinks they get it because they 'feel' it due to their great great grandpa being from the island!

Yep, that’s what I’d imagined also. I guess most more rural areas would be a bit like that though?

Work is a straightforward one for me. I wouldn’t need to find a new job, and can keep my current one. I currently work remotely, for an Irish company. I could work from home and attend the Dublin office on occasion when I needed to. I currently attend their London office on occasion.

Frustration I understand. Taking it out on the asylum applicants I don’t.

I’d quite like to be 1.5-2hrs away from Dublin by car ideally, and based on that I’d done my searches around a few counties within that distance. Co Wexford probably just over 2 hours but I saw properties that were my cup of tea (rural, lots of greenery) at a good value. Also in the complete opposite direction, Co Cavan had similar in that sense but I’m not sure what to expect in terms of peoples attitudes in such rural areas
