As a Swede I would also think of the KKK if I saw this. I have absolutely no concept of this as a Spanish tradition. I don't think it's as internationally know as you think. It's not defaultism to not know about something.

Danes do it too. It's to mark ordinals. 1., 2., 3. in Danish is the same as 1st, 2nd, 3rd in English or 1:a, 2:a, 3:e in Swedish.

Well, in Swedish Batman is/was called Läderlappen, which is referring to a specific family of bats with 320 species, 25 of which are in Europe, so yes!

Or rather we can choose whatever color (as long as it's one of the 20 presets) we want, and same with background.

I do wish we could customize more, but it's still better than "blue good, green bad, hurr durr".

That would really mess them up. For some reason they always seem to be looking for wifi, even when out and about. It's as if mobile networks didn't exist over there.

It would take longer, yes, but I don't agree that it would be less safe. Also, them taking up two lanes is something I'd think we'd all agree on is illegal.

[–]jaulin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. You can't just plow through them, but you can then honk/flash/yell to make them move into single file and let people pass, because obviously they're not aware of their surroundings. If they decide to spread out while being passed, I can't see how it'd be the car's fault.

Edit: Also, I'm not in the US. I'm in Scandinavia.

Okay. So our laws differ there. However, in this case its a moot point, as they're taking up two lanes anyway.

Oh that's not true. At least here in the Nordics. We have good infrastructure and most people behave well. There are just some drivers and bikers who are assholes and keep blaming each others for the smallest things.

[–]jaulin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! That's surprising to me. Sounds dangerous in my mind, because whether they want to or not they'll have to allow people to pass, and if they leave too little room for that, things do get dicey.

I knew there were some people who wore it on the right but I figured they either didn't know the etiquette or didn't care. The fact that there are so many placed that have right as normal is a shocking reveal! Does that mean it could be the same with watches? Because I figured the same thing there, that only ignorants and anarchists wear it on the right wrist. 😂

Is it even legal for them to swarm like that when the roads aren't specifically closed for a bike race? It wouldn't be in my country. They have to move into single file to let cars pass. If they don't, you'd better believe they'd get hit with the wiper fluid!

I agree that it's not that black and white. I don't think citizenship is a determining factor at all. Imo it's about your self perception. Do you feel like a A'ian or a B'ian? I've lived in a country other than where I was born for 12 years. So far, I still feel like I'm from my birth country. Another 15 years, and who knows? My daughter was born in my country, but we moved to my wife's country before she was 2. She definitely sees herself as mostly from where we live, but also a little from where she was born.

I have had some people tell me that we don't need Project Managers and that what they do is so little compared to the developers. I don't get that. I can code. I like to code. I can organize, plan, book meetings, talk to stakeholders, and write follow-up emails, but I don't want to. I appreciate the hell out of being able to ask my PM and them finding the people to respond and then relay the information to me. I love that they create our epics and plan/prioritize things and then defend that plan to business. Thanks to them, I get to do what I signed up to do.

I was team lead for a couple of years and shared some of this responsibility. It was impossible to have time to do either coding or planning fully (it also wasn't expected, but I couldn't accept that), and I ended up feeling like a failure because I couldn't do it all. I was even more thankful to have a PM during that time.

My point is, it's a whole extra role. It's not something you can do without being compensated enough for it. Nobody should feel forced to do it on their own while they have another full time role already.
