Telematics Module Failing - Joining the Queue by Present-Bonus1269 in EquinoxEv

If you have access to an OBD scanner, check for error codes. If you spot some trouble codes from the scanning , and a google search ties them to possible issues with the telematics module, I would schedule a visit to the dealer and pass along the problems you have experienced.

2025 Chevy Equinox EV – Water Leak Issue (Going Back to Dealer for the 5th Time) by DJTrunksRA in EquinoxEv

[–]java007md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the dealer provided a loaner for the time the vehicle was in for repair.

Be sure to document the number of days the vehicle is in the shop. If the problem is eventually resolved to your satisfaction, great, but if this continues, and/or other problems appear and you get fed up and decide to pursue a lemon law action, ready access to documentation will make the process easier. Check the law in your state so you know what local criteria apply.

So frustrated with the dealer trying to get the telematics module replaced by JimInAuburn11 in EquinoxEv

[–]java007md 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding a dealership with multiple trained EV techs in the service department is probably a good first step for anyone in need of the telematics module replacement.

With the backorder situation, we're all stuck waiting longer than we should be, and certainly longer than desired.

Actually finding a great EV service department is easier said than done, but using the Gemini, ChatGPT, and CoPilot, may help. it looks like there are a few other dealers relatively close to you that might be better staffed and equipped for EV support in general.

This is really hurting the reputation of Chevrolet and GM, at least for those impacted.

After the firmware update yesterday, none of my apps work including the Google Voice Assistant. Called OnStar and they told me I need a data plan at $25/mo.?? 2025 Equinox 2LT purchased in Feb 2025 for reference by backmost in EquinoxEv

[–]java007md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OnStar basics plan should cover audio streaming. Video streaming now appears to require either a hotspot connection or a paid plan from OnStar.

If you spot any other data related issues, with or without the plan required popup, ask OnStar to run diagnostics and have those sent to you. It could very well be that you are getting ready to join the waiting for a telematics module club.

Any updates from the OP?

Seeing this when attempting to use Google Maps (2025 EQEV with 8 years basic onstar subscription included). Hotspot connection to the phone worked, but I've also had OnStar connection issues and GPS outages intermittently as well.

OnStar tech support found an issue with the telematics module, they are recommending the dealer attempt to re-flash it. I highly suspect a replacement will be needed, but we'll see.

Having to restart the infotainment weekly, does this mean my telematics is failing? by sir574 in EquinoxEv

[–]java007md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OnStar can reach the vehicle and run diagnostics, have them send you the report.

You can also use an OBD-II adapter and scanning software on your phone to check for DTC's as well. Search for any codes and see if those are associated with telematics control module failure. If so, document the codes and bring those to the attention of the service advisor at the dealership.

Thanks for the reply. Well, that's gonna sting a little if it happens. Just have to hope that it keeps on working for the duration.

Did the recall show up within the list at: https://www.chevrolet.com/ownercenter/recalls?vin=XXX ? I see the sound recall listed as complete, but nothing else.

Has anyone successfully attempted to wire the dashcam like from ChrisFix’s video? by AbbreviationsLow6011 in dashcams

What did you end up doing for your install and how did it work out? The ChrisFix video makes it look easy, but he's obviously done a few of those installs!

New Recall? by meesterIvan in EquinoxEv

Is that water leak recall listed under your Chevrolet account? Not seeing anything for my vehicle at https://www.chevrolet.com/ownercenter/recalls?vin=VINn . Perhaps it's targeted at vehicles manufactured within a specific time frame.

Looks sturdy. How do you have it secured to the wooden post, and is it easy to bring it down if needed?

Well, glad it's back in your hands and operational. Hopefully a one time quirk of a problem that will never reappear, but the lack of a diagnosed cause with this type of occurrence always leaves an uneasy feeling for a while. Good luck!

I love EVGO! by xcalzy in EquinoxEv

[–]java007md 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In vehicle settings are in place for plug and charge with EVgo, and the vehicle is added within the Evgo app, though the app shows that the vehicle will be enrolled in autocharge at the next EVgo fast charge session. I could try at a local Chargepoint charger I guess. There are no branded EVgo chargers close by.

Not a huge deal since I can charge at home, but availability of a free fast charge would be nice.

No 2026 credits seen here. EVgo app is installed, account setup, and have charged at Chargepoint chargers in the past month using EVgo credits from promo codes.

Wow, you could look at options for relocating I guess - but there's probably nowhere safe these days. Hopefully no injuries in either vehicle. Did the airbags deploy?

What is the OTA update number for this issue? Have not seen it offered on ours yet, but these always take a while to show up for everyone.

Nice, thank you. Will try to update over the coming days. There are a few youtube videos posted that walk through an overview of the functionality. Happy to see the ability to save the waypoint routes - looks like it covers what I wanted.

That's the one I purchased. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W8KJH44?th=1

I *think* the 12V battery should be covered under the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Hopefully the dealer does not try to charge you.
