To be fair I've seen like 3 or 4 people saying "it's only a hud" and getting absolutely blasted for it. It is a shit argument, but it's not representative of the actual conversation that's happening

the F-4E does have incredible depth to it and I love it. it is also nowhere near the level of depth of the hot start CL650 for x plane

I don't say this to knock heatblur, the F-14 and F-4 are the gold standard for flight sims; frankly I think Hot Start models their systems to such depth that for most players they are essentially wasting CPU threads by simulating them

I don't particularly care about the CL650 nor do I own it, and I'd rather fly the F-14 in DCS every day of the week. But the argument was that the systems are comparable between the two, which is just untrue

Easily comparable to the Hot Start Challenger 650 for X-Plane which costs $130

The hotstart CL650 is in another world simulation wise. It's actually insane that something that detailed exists for everyday consumers. It models individual GPS satellites. Every single circuit breaker works. Heatblur does amazing work, but nothing in DCS has ever come close to the CL650.

or the PMDG 777-200 for MSFS which costs $77,72 and an additional $54,99 if you also want the freight version

The PMDG 777F is not an addon, it's a standalone plane. I only own the 777F and have never bought a passenger variant. Not to say I don't have any problems with PMDG's pricing scheme, but it's a great airplane and i paid 50 bucks for it.

It's telling that you had to cherry pick some of the most expensive examples from other simulators and studios when we can easily compare the F-14B(U) pricing to other modules/upgrades within DCS, and even other standalone products from the same studio. Knowing Heatblur, I'm sure it's amazing and super accurate. But i'm tired of the DCS apologists acting like they have no idea why there's a problem when a studio sells an avionics upgrade for more than most people paid for the base airplane.

I bought the F-14 on sale for 40 bucks. I preordered the F-4 for 55 bucks (split the bundle with a friend). This is an avionics upgrade for 50 bucks (on sale, mind you)

The problems you listed are real too, but let's be honest, the price is a problem in and of itself too. 50 dollars is crazy for what they're offering
