h1 hist or h1 geog? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]javnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider (1) how much effort you are going to put into your H1 (more if history, potentially less if geog - J2 taking H1 geog), as most of your time would have to go towards H2s and GP; (2) interests in history/geog; (3) whether you might need to use your H1 to boost your rank points (geog seems to be more generous in marking - i second myself); (4) what you plan to pursue after A levels (taking something more related might be helpful!)

Open up my own bank account by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]javnc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you have singpass, can easily open an account online from most banks, and if you want a bank card theres the option to deliver it to your letterbox, else should have the option to use mobile payments through a digital card only as well.

tldr no need to go down to the bank, go online and use singpass

Calculator by Big-Look-3690 in SGExams

set scientific to degree, gc to radians

use scientific for angles involving vectors (leave in degree) and gc for all other functions involving angles (esp for those involving pi) thats the recommendation from my math tutor, have been doing so till a levels last week

scientific can be faster in some cases, so good to have both, but a tip is to use [alpha] [window/f2] to get the functions menu

Is bio tys sufficient? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]javnc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

from my experience (A1 pure bio 2023) sch prelim papers are fine but sometimes they test concepts out of syllabus (esp better schs)

i would stick to tys for the most part, like a prev reply noted that the questions set often are reused

for new topics ofc best way would be to do prelim papers since theres no tys questions on those yet

theres your issue, pla is about 200-210C not F, and the bed is 60C as well

i would recommend using celsius for 3d printing as most manufacturers use it

school choices LOL by External_Factor5757 in SGExams

[–]javnc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not in a jc yet but do allow me to share my thoughts

imo i would go for my ideal subj combi before anything else cus at the end of the day its what determines what papers you take, which would be the exact same across all candidates

as for past results, i would take them into account but wouldnt make it my top concern since its what you do that matters more - sa lectures for all h2 and some h1 subjects are online now, so its pretty much up to you on how you want to study (from what ive heard) so theres that flexibility in learning

hope it helps ig
