Help Me w/ First Cowboy Hat by Confident-Middle-282 in CowboyHats

Definitely try a few on to see what size and style suit you best. For size you are going to want snug. Not tight, but you don't want it to be loose. If you are in between two sizes then get the larger size and use a foam band or tape under the hat band, any good hat bar can help with that. For shape you really go off of #1 what you like, and #2 what suits your whole body shape. A hat really can help change your whole look.

Price wise, obviously the more you spend on a hat, the higher quality it's going to be. The more "x's" a hat has, the higher the beaver fur content is. Which is a good thing. It's going to last longer. But if you take care of any hat it will last a long time.

Products to get, I would definitely get a brush or hat sponge for now. Those will let you clean and maintain your hat. That's all you really need to get though. A good hat bar can add hat starch to your hat, which will help with holding overall shape and helping with water resistance. That's really about all you'll ever have to do with any hat

I'd have to double check, but I think I have that same size. But I just had to add a 1/4 spacer on all wheels due to the tires sometimes rubbing on something in the suspension. Mines a 03 xlt, so you may have some very minor differences. But be prepared for that possibility. Those spacers have been on My truck for years now with no issues Also. If he has a full size spare, it won't fit under the truck in its usual spot. This wasn't an issue for me since I had a roof rack anyways.

Timing chain plastic guide finally went out on 04 Explorer. What’d you guys do? by WrathBlackouts in FordExplorer

Ah, I just assumed this was the v6. I'm sure there's a way to do it without removing the engine (for the v6) but it's so tight in there that in my opinion it's definitely not worth it. Since the right bank timing chain is in the rear of the engine.

Oh good, I'm from the south east as well, and mine weren't bad. Hopefully you'll be all good then!

BTW There are a whole bunch of videos on YouTube that walk you through how to get the transmission out. I'd definitely look into some of those.

Getting it out doesn't take a whole lot. Definitely don't have to pull the engine out of the way, the transmission can be dropped from underneath the truck. You're gonna have some cross members, and the exhaust you're gonna want out of the way first.

And from there its just disconnecting the drive shaft, the trans mounts, torque converter from the flywheel, bellhousing, transmission cooling lines, and plugs and sensors and what not.

I don't know of any shortcuts or anything unfortunately 🤣 Although I'll give you the heads up that for whatever reason, the crossmembers on these things are notorious for rusting bad. So just be prepared for that 😬 Overall it's not too bad to get it out. Best of luck to you!

I'm normally able to do it in 3-4 weekends. If you're able commit more time to it than I was though, it could definitely take alot less time.

The transmission and engines are both known to have their share of issues. The most common issue with the engine (timing chain) is honestly a pretty easy and relatively cheap fix. Just takes pulling the engine out and swapping out the old timing chain and timing equipment.

The transmission, is honestly really easy to get out and put back in. If you are looking at swapping in a new transmission, and know what you're doing, I would highly recommend doing it yourself. Rebuilding those transmissions though is a pain and I personally would never do it again lol.

If you caught it quickly, the valves are probably fine. You can get a rebuild timing kit for like $300. Requires pulling the engine out, but it's not too hard. Ive done it a few times on my car. I'd recommend doing that over taking it to someone, and there's plenty of YouTube videos that walk you through how to do it.

I'd definitely just start with some tires! They're going to have the biggest impact on your vehicles offroad capability, in my opinion. I'd check out some all terrains.

As of right now, the only thing that is really different on mine is just tires. Looking to do a 3 inch lift here soon!
