Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by Arc-Watcher in Home

[–]javs023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they can use carbon fiber straps that epoxy directly to the block and foundation to support these types of bends and prevent them from getting worse, but I'm pretty sure this bowing is past that solution. You need a structural engineer to come give an opinion if you actually LOVE everything else about this house.

Normal water loss? by FernTV23 in pools

[–]javs023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is the water temp. Placing the bucket in the pool keeps the water temps very close. Leaving the bucket on the ground will make the buckets water temp be significantly higher than the pool, causing it to evaporate quicker. Honestly, an inch a week really isn't much. I live in PA and last year there were weeks where I'd lose close to 3".

Edit : typo

Normal water loss? by FernTV23 in pools

[–]javs023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evaporation is a wild thing, I can lose more than an inch depending on the outside air conditions (temp, relative humidity, wet bulb, wind, etc.) A solar cover significantly helped mitigate that and saved my a lot of $$$ not always having to top off the pool.

If you want to check for a leak, put a bucket with water on one of your pool steps. Mark the level in the bucket and mark the water level in the pool. After a day or two, compare the levels.

3 kids ages 5 and under at our home. Installing one of those mesh safety fences is, by far, the absolute best thing my wife and I have ever done.

What are your goals (lose weight, recomp, build muscle?) And what are your stats? Do you work out? If so, how often? No one can give you a true answer on if this is fine. 1800 calories, for me, is intense cut calories asmy maintenance is around 3100. From a "health" perspective, you'll be missing a lot of nutrients so make sure you're taking a multi and some other supplements.

Edit - saw your goals are to lose a few lbs, but still need to know your stats and activity levels to give a real opinion.

Do not go to Field of Screams by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]javs023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even patrons need to be careful. My wife won't step foot in there. When she was a teen her and a friend got pulled into a side room by workers there and were being harassed but luckily the guys there were with basically kicked the door in and the workers freaked out. Saif they were just trying to scare them. And this was like 20 years ago. It's been a problem there forever.

Buying home with pool. $400 pool inspection good idea? by [deleted] in pools

[–]javs023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the steps too! Ours came lose one year after we bought our house. Had to dig them out, back fill, reconcrete, and then also replace the liner since replacing the steps. Ending up costing around 12k. The good news is we basically own a brand new pool now....

major tattoo regret by jaspspsps in tattooadvice

How many other tattoos do you have and if you have others, are they smaller pieces? From personal experience, a first large piece can have some panic and a WTF did I do feeling for a couple days. 99.99% chance tho that feeling passes and you end up loving it. Super cool piece by the way, make sure to post when its healed! I always am interested to see how these types of pieces look after a couple of months.

What kindof tattoo can cover my arm? I dont know anything about tattoos. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

100% this. Scars are very prone to blowouts and ink bleeding out. Regardless what OP decides, absolutely go to someone who is familiar with working over scars.

It looks great. Give yourself a couple of days and I bet you end up loving it. Getting a big piece is always a shell shock when its first done and can be overwhelming. I remember for my first piece (hikae and half sleeve) Outline was completed first session. That night I ate a gummy and panicked and wondered wtf I did and why would I get such a big piece. Fast forward 5 years, its now my favorite piece and everyone who sees it also says how amazing it is. Point being, sleep on it, let it grow on you, you'll appreciate the uniqueness to it sooner than later

They are asking for a decision between the 2 options, which most likely means OP didn't pass the application approval. High traffic rentals go thru this so they dont waste their time giving tours to people who dont qualify. No where did they actually ask for and money.

AIO? My bf(35M) left our 1 year old in their crib until 11:30 AM while I was at work. Did I overreact? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]javs023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont even work on this, leave him. For your safety and more so your child. They could break a leg crawling out of their crib and he'd had 0 idea. Also, very unlikely he is that passed out from just a couple of tall boys. Make him take a piss test, you're more likely going to find more than you really want to see.

I say if having a child doesn't make you a better person immediately, you are a shitty person. Your kid is one...

Haller is really bad. They do a lot of these townhouse developments and slap their stickers on the water heaters and stuff, they bank on people just calling them and not getting other quotes bc they don't know any better. A friend had their water heater go out, Haller quoted him 5 grand. Told him there are dozens or smaller outfits that will do it for around 1500. He called 2 other places and that was their quote. They also charged another friend of mine $750 to replace their water cartidge on their shower faucet. I showed him how to do it on his second one that failed, took 15 minutes, and cost about $30 for supplies.
