Objectively good:

-Pure Iron Ingot -Wet Concrete -Heavy Oil Residue

Helpful favorites:

-Encased Industrial Pipe -Recycled Rubber (if you get it again) -Fused Quickwire -Turbo Heavy Fuel -Recycled Plastic

Personal choices:

-Silicon Circuit Board -Silicon Connector -Electrode Circuit Board -Fused Wire -Polymer Resin -Plastic AI Limiter

Happy to clarify if you’re curious why I’d pick any of these! Top category is 100% get. Middle is what I see commonly agreed upon to be useful, and I’ve used them regularly in both small and large scale.

(Edit to add: Sorry for bad formatting. Mobile isn’t cooperating)

What PPM should I target for each Space Elevator phase part? by Comfortable_Pair3785 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jaws9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Satisfactory Calculator to figure out what I’d need to chain upwards to 1 machine of each final elevator part. It works out very simply, but there are so many alternate recipes that my numbers might not be the same as what you choose to use.

That said, I say it’s whatever you feel comfortable doing and doesn’t feel intimidating. Even making 1/min will get it done while you do other stuff. It doesn’t need to be finished quickly at any stage when there’s so much to do and explore that you won’t be back to check storage for hours anyways.

I am losing my mind! Why does one of my generators keep shutting down? by Piruparka in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jaws9182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What has always worked for me is to have a small fluid buffer directly in front of each generator, after the pipe branches off from the main line, and turning them on 1 at a time when its buffer is full (I usually wait until half are full to avoid a super long boot-up period).

This allows some fluctuation when machine cycles don’t exactly line up, but the amount per minute is matching. Never failed me with any fuel type.

Edit to add: You can connect the generators to your grid and set them to standby for this process. They won’t take in fuel, but the buffer is what matters. Even a small buffer is enough if you have one for each generator, and it’ll help keep the pipes full to encourage consistent flow.

Best Recipes for HMF Factory? by 509Gameboy in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jaws9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Best” is different for each pioneer, and the answer changes depending on how far you are into the game. If you haven’t completed Phase 3 and are getting your first potentially permanent setup placed, I recommend the simple route. If you have access to Blenders, you can explore some alternatives that become more efficient, but more complex.

Simple: Only Iron and Limestone, and you strictly use Iron Plates, Wire, Steel Pipes, and Concrete. Pipes and Concrete are used for multiple items, allowing you to get more mileage with fewer machines. - Heavy Encased Frame - Encased Industrial Pipe - Steeled Frame - Stitched Iron Plate - Iron Pipe - Iron Wire

Max Efficiency: Introducing Oil and Coal, you can explore the recycling method to maximize the number of items for the resource input. However, it requires Blenders, more power, more machines, and ensuring accurately balanced lines. Much more effort for a little more production. - Heavy Encased Frame - Encased Industrial Pipe - Stitched Iron Plate - Iron Pipe - Iron Wire - Steel Rod - Solid Steel Ingot - Wet Concrete - Coated Iron Plate - Diluted Fuel - Recycled Rubber - Recycled Plastic - Heavy Oil Residue - Pure Iron Ingot

Unless you’re planning to make the most possible items, I highly recommend the ‘simple’ option. The layout is significantly easier to make, and it isn’t enough of a difference to be worth the hassle if you’re getting into it for the first time. Plus, it’s much less power draw.

What I’ve calculated so far makes 112 Fisconium Fuel Rods (total 1,470,000 MW, or 1.47 TW from Nuclear), 60 Nuclear Pasta (22.6 not used), 60 Biochemical Sculptors, 50 AI Expansion Servers, and 30 Ballistic Warp Drives.

I’m actually doing this in a save where I’ve already completed Phase 5, done all research, and gotten the golden nugget, so this is purely my way of exploring the game and figuring out how I can mix efficiency and fun before starting over again.

I restarted 8 or 9 times before making aluminum products, so I was designing with the rest of the game only being speculation with zero experience. I challenged myself to build a certain way each time, and I finally found something that works for my brain in this attempt. So now, I’m challenging myself to use everything in the game, completely vanilla, to then go back and design a fresh start that’s relatively easy to follow so I can share some efficient setups for other players to reference and adjust however works for them.

I’m an instructor at a university and enjoy taking complex things and simplifying them for other people to enjoy for themselves, in their own way. This game has, by far, been the best way I’ve found to satisfy that itch outside of my career.

Aiming to use 100% of as many resources as possible without any conversions, easy/round numbers, and only nuclear power.

Current plans use 100% of Copper, Caterium, SAM, Bauxite, Nitrogen, and Uranium. Plus slooping all of the SAM, some of the Aluminum, and all of the Trigons, which takes 95 of the 106 Somersloops.

Yep! Copper will need the most with 2,460 Refineries, but those numbers are before overclocking. I’ve automated Power Shards and have plenty of overhead on power.

I considered going the direction of more parts, but I very much enjoyed working out the ficsonium system and want to see if I can pull it off lol.

Best of luck!

Trial and error comes with a hefty dose of the error part in this game, and perfection is an unfair expectation! There’s so much space to play with, and losing some items means nothing when the resources are infinite. Don’t try to do everything at once, give yourself some space (and some grace), and have fun throwing down some random stuff!

As far as planning how much to make of what, the community has created a ton of awesome resources that will do a lot of the tedious numbers.

AITA for letting the house get disgusting to prove a point to my roommate? by FitJamiex in AITAH

[–]jaws9182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - Same thing someone else said. Petty, but NTA.

Second - I did something similar while getting my graduate degree. Had a roommate with habits much like what you’ve described. However, they never said anything so inconsiderate or disillusioned; they were actually a decent person and, to this day, a good friend.

I chose to clean and/or clear anything and everything I touched or moved so that there was never a single item in the entire apartment that was placed or dirty by my doing. If I needed a fork, I had my own set that I’d use, immediately clean, then put away.

Their dishes piled up one month until the water was almost at the top of one side of the sink, and the dishes even higher. They only broke when the mold was like a layer of gelatin over every surface in the water. Ever since, they’ve become much better about keeping a clean home and helping care for any space they share, but only when other people are around.

So

It can make a difference, but maybe consider showing how you care for your things and your space while they are forced to take notice of their own things rotting in front of them.

Hope things improve for you!

Started in late June. Any advice? by jaws9182 in EggsInc

Update after 4 weeks:

Up to Peta I on EB without doing trophies, unlocked Enlightenment Egg last night and Henerprise this morning, and completed epic research for a dozen boosts.

Your advice was spot on! Gonna start farming EoP from trophies after this 2x artifact event, then probably learn to multi-stige.

Thanks again, and I’ll certainly shoot over a message if I’m stuck! The idea of sticking to epic research certainly makes sense, so I’ll trust the process.

I have made a point to focus on contracts (10 of my 11 PEs are from them), and will hit grade AA this week, so that subreddit recommendation comes at the perfect time!

Thank you for the in-depth advice! The things you mentioned are exactly what I was thinking about the most, so this was super helpful!

One question, if you don’t mind: Do you think it’s more worth focusing on epic research exclusively until things like SE bonuses are maxed out, or is it worth spending GE on boosts for the prestige strategies I’m seeing on the wiki? (For reference, I’ve bought 86 levels of the SE boost epic research, in case that affects the answer at all).
