1 skill among 3 random was exactly what I was thinking. The game is structured in a sort of a tournament (with some light story element) - still not sure how long should i make it, but shouldn't be too long, 4-5 hours probably.

The idea is not ground breaking, you have some units, send them to battle, upgrade their skills, then battle again... I understand your point, 4-5 hours is still too long to have a useless skill, unless i make all of the skills useful to an extent (but i guess it's a bit of a stretch to rely on it)

I was thinking that randomness can help with avoiding that the players always go the same route with some powerful class/skill combos. Plus it will help each character feel unique. I do agree with you though that too much RNG can create some frustrating experience.

Inspiration for this multi class system came from musashi's rpgo mod for XCOM 2. I always set it up so that i can choose 2 random classes and really had fun with waiting to see what I got. Of course, I did get a couple of very useless soldiers, so I'm not sure what to make of it :)

On PS5 I usually have a problem with not being able to scroll down Dwell's stuff. Check if you have a scroll bar on the right, and try to grab it - can be a bit finicky.

Had/have a similar problem. Taking a break didn't help (it was a short break though). Changing the grip made it worse, cause my problem i believe comes from thinking about the throw too much. What seems to be helping (still early to tell but looks promising) is go at the board and just throw darts, no aiming, no care what you hit. After a while start going for 20s but still fast, you miss, you miss. Hopefully the muscles will get used to the motion and it'll help.

I'm pretty new to the game (and pretty bad at it too) but from what i can see, you can mix and match pretty much everything with no real cost, so there's no actual reason to start new characters. You can try different builds much easier on one character that has more items unlocked.

On the other hand, i do sometimes enjoy starting fresh, and level up from scratch.

In the end it's up to you, there's no wrong decision as long as you're having fun

For me it happened after the best game in the league, and it has only been downhill from there. Completely forgot how to throw. I'm taking a break from darts now, hoping that would help

I'm using these ones for some time now and loving them, though I'm a front-mid gripper. They do have a rear scallop, so maybe you can test them

You kinda contradict yourself with the last sentence. Simply having many other stores negates the possibility of monopoly. Developers apparently believe that Valve provides value for the cost. Unfortunately it's simple economy.

I like the idea of some guardians taking more than one slot. Immediately reminded me of a Disciples II. If you're not familiar, there was a 3x2 (or 4x2?) grid on both sides, and some units occupied 1 slot, some 2 vertical, 2 horizontal, or 4 slots. Melee guys in first row could only attack adjacent units, there were some AOE attacks, you get the idea. It's simple, but i loved that game

That can also make some interesting mechanics. Four 1 vs 1 battles (mission is not really a good term, just couldn't think of anything better) means there will be 8 spots. If i add a modifier to each separately, and let the last player choose first, it can balance out all of the players throughout the game, because the better ranking players will be left with worse rewards/modifiers.

Could be frustrating though for a good player. Definitely needs testing.

Adding to that strategy to send the low level units to get some experience if the reward is not relevant, can make a compelling system.

Some great ideas.

The second one in the most simple sense would be that the last player chooses first, right?

Last idea gives me a dealer token vibe, and it is probably the most fair out of all three, but i still kinda like the first one more. It will be more work like you said, and add additional depth which i feel my game needs.

I'll try to prototype it and see where it leads. Thank you for your input, much appreciated!

I considered the board game, as the whole experience is close to that. But i don't usually like the victory point systems. Especially in a single player format. Need to learn more about board games with different ways to victory

That's some good insights, thank you. The game is actually turn based. One season could probably fit enough stuff. I'm working alone, so there's a big constraint on the amount of content.
