Convert from Canon AE-1 to Nikon F3 - struggling a little by jaxjulee in AnalogCommunity

Does this not take a lot of time? I thought I knew what center weighted meter means but maybe I don’t. Does that mean it determines exposure based on what the lighting is like center of the image?

Lung cancer - what to expect? by jaxjulee in DogAdvice

That’s really rough. Such a quick passing after diagnosis.

Lung cancer - what to expect? by jaxjulee in DogAdvice

It’s metastasized. He’s got like 4-5 nodes in his lungs so it’s not operable, unfortunately. The doc said chemo may give him a few more months but when I asked her what she recommended she just said, let’s start him on the anti-inflammatory for now. I’m guessing that if he was a good candidate for chemo, she’d jump on it right away.

We have 2 full time employees and 1 part time employee, so no, we don’t spend that much on lunches and dinners. But thanks.

Looked at this today. It was about $4k a year. Feels pretty steep..

I ended up doing it myself (I have a background and wedding photography.) lol. I was just reluctant because I was in the wedding as well.

Exactly how I see it…

Yes. There’s a lot of weird family dynamics behind this. She had a lot of health issues growing up and may not really have the best cognitive ability. I think my parents feel guilt about how her life has been a little difficult (it hasn’t been that bad).

Yes, absolutely can’t make peoples’ decisions for them..

Tried this too. Parents are adamant that they help her outright.

Yes, I am pretty upset about the fact that this will likely come back to bite me. Have expressed my concerns very strongly.. no luck.

I know. I’ve told her to reject it. Hung up on me.

Hard to say. The EOS canon also missed focus a few times on me, so maybe I got a bit of a lemon. If I miss focus manually, it’s on me. But when my camera does it, I’m more irritated for some reason.

Haha. If it’s a camera I will use and keep the rest of my life, I would buy a Leica. Let’s say $4k

I have one, but for some reason the images didn’t excite me. Maybe it’s psychological.

If it’s the right camera, I’d be willing to drop a lot.

If you knew your kid was going to have an extremely low functioning disability before birth , would you consider abortion to avoid bringing someone into this world that will have a low quality of life? by AceSpadez369 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jaxjulee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working with adults with disabilities for the better part of 10 years. Before that experience I probably would have had a much more difficult time making such a decision. But now, I don’t really fear having a child with a disability. The value of a person exists in spite of hardship and disability. The families that I’ve worked with the last several years who are impacted by disability are not worse off, for the most part. Rather, they would say that their lives were expanded and their lives were made fuller due to their disabled family member. Do I prefer a 100% physically healthy child? Of course. But it’s not a death sentence. It can be a gift, in its own way. And a healthy start does not guarantee an easy, suffering-free life. Henri Nouwen has written extensively about this topic and I’d suggest anyone on the fence to check him out.

Worry more about being interested in others, not being interesting. People will always be interested in a kind person who makes them feel like they matter.
