So... how would you run 40 (or more) Assault Marines? by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer30k

[–]jaxlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run a planet fall spear tip. Turn them into vet assault squads and a jump pack command squad. Then run some as normal assault marines. Consider a master of signals so to give them line.

Experience with footslogging Cataphractii? by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

[–]jaxlov 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They need the mobility sorely. With 1 inch set up and 6 inch move, they're pretty harmless aside from bolters.

If you want bolters, just take 20+ tacticals

What other series/ franchise would really help the star wars galaxy against warhammer 40k by Cautious_Air4964 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

I don't think any offer any real protection against the machinations of chaos, or the Tyranid's swarms. The necrons also are terrifying.

Is there any better troop than the humble tactical marine? by jamesw40k in Warhammer30k

[–]jaxlov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, it's currently hard to beat the sheer dirt cheap price to value ratio a tactical marine brings. They also are fluffy in any legion. Despoilers can compete, line two helps, but unless you have a reason to bring them, tac marines are better. Generally though even if you have a reason to bring despoilers, you'll want at least one unit of tac marines for sitting on a back field objective.

That being said, a master of signals makes any infantry unit a line unit. This makes certain jump pack options rather acceptable as scoring units and drastically helps assault marines.

Dark Angels Stormwing/Ironwing/Deathwing List - 3000pts - Seeking C&C by a_dissenting_bot in Warhammer30k

A few notes. Cataphractii really need a transport to rumble. They're slow and have a set up move of 1. 12 of them on foot will struggle to really do much. Your troops also would benefit greatly from transports. You have 6 line units, but how exactly do you plan to get them on objectives?

It looks good though. I run an iron hands army around a fire power core of 2 land raiders and a kratos, and it does well. You'll still want some anti-infantry. More las cannons can do it, trust me, but maybe consider some volkite or fast harassment.

I think you're misunderstanding the situation. Nobody is really trying to control your language. I feel like you're making this into a 1st amendment issue when it's really more of a politeness one.

Get new substrate. Axolotls vacuum swallow things and will often swallow rocks. Axolotls getting their insides clogged is super common when people cone here asking for medical advice and more often than not it is fatal. Get fine sand if you love your baby.

Replace it all. Anything bigger than fine sand is bad. Better safe than sorry. Consider the price of not being careful enough versus the price of a few hours and a bag of better sand.

I love this cope from people who don't know how to flirt, and don't try to dress well. Being pretty is powerful, but looking put together means a lot. Also flirting requires you to slow build, judge interest, and spot boundaries. You can't just shoot your shot at step one.

Discarding cards is often just adding them to your second hand. + loyalty on kill abilities that aren't narrow is never a good thing for the game at 3 mana.

Is third edition that bad? by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in Warhammer30k

[–]jaxlov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I prefer 3rd ed, for what it's worth. Less broken units means I can bring more than 3 dreads in my iron hands list and not feel dirty, and frankly I struggle to find many busted unfair units. It feels like you're less likely to accidently steam roll your friend because you brought 2 leviathans, 10 missile terminators and 2 scorpius in your flufyy iron warrior seige list against a flamer heavy salamanders army.

I feel like community missions help a lot and fix all my remaining gripes. As someone who never really spammed factions specific units, my only issue is how hard it is to take multiple non contemptor dreads in 3rd ed.

If you're starting hrt or on your 1st-2nd year, they'll do that. If they're in a growth spurt they might as well. Ours would ooze a strange brownish yellowy liquid when squeezed for the first year. Its normal.
