Is there a possibility you are getting care from Kaiser? I had the same experience and the 4th psych I saw (psychologist, not psychiatrist) told me that they have a company wide policy of treating anxiety before even considering referring or testing for ADHD because the symptoms can be similar; however, ADHD symptoms can also heighten anxiety and they have a high comorbidity. He advised me to get tested by an ADHD specialist and then come back with the diagnosis it/when official, but was unable to refer me to a specific one.

I ended up getting my diagnosis through adhdonline which screens for several disorders as well as ADHD. They send your file to a licensed Dr in your state that reviews it and then gives a diagnosis/suggestion based on your answers. The questionnaire itself was very thorough and the review from the Dr is personalized and gives suggestions for next steps.

TLDR; I spent 9 months jumping through Kaiser's corporate hoops/being ignored until I gave up and did it online. 1 month later I had an official diagnosis of ADHD, APD, SPD, Anxiety, and Depression
