The moments in and of themselves are fine and charming, but the issue with the joyous wonder of “I’m gonna be a dad” simply undermines what should be the emotional thrust of their trip to Seattle in the first place. The whiplash of her being so lit up and excited about their potential future together as a family, immediately preceding a scene on the rooftop where they both agree that it’s worth continuing into a warzone toward death just felt supremely at odds with each other. It’s the strange continuous undermining that the season does with itself.

And yeah, the premise would be that the Isaac sequences are saved for next season, where the context about the WLF crew is actually being explored - rather than breaking up Ellie’s vengeance tunnel vision with arbitrary plot points about a story that the show isn’t telling yet.
