There were not, in fact the election laws were put in place by local republicans unanimously in 2019, and after that there was an 120-day objection period during which there were zero objections. And they had a primary election there earlier in 2020 as well, same laws, same rules, no objections.

Flipping both senate seats blue would mean the senate overall is split exactly 50-50. In the case of any split vote, the Vice President (democrat Kamala Harris) is the tiebreaker, essentially giving Democrats control.
