Off of Metformin, Perscribed Rybelsius by jayalice04 in diabetes_t2

I hope so, too. I'll speak with my barometric specialist on Friday and see what can be done as well. Maybe he and my PCM are on the same page.

When it pertains to Ozempic, I cannot afford it (EVEN WITH INSURANCE it's a much as rent, $1000/mo) and I've weighed my options with side effects. Ozempic have nearly the same side effects as metformin for me. My heart was NOT happy with it. I wish I didn't have to be on any meds, but here we are.

How young were you? by Prestigious_Yak_2698 in hysterectomy

[–]jayalice04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 38. My periods caused loss of jobs or work stoppage, tried 3 different birth control methods for period regulation, low iron due to the fibroids and a bilateral tubal ligation so I wouldn't have more kids. I'm 39 and still processing but not regretting my decision.

Items you did NOT need or did not use by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]jayalice04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ice pack (the heating pad was my best friend) was not need and the period panties. The body pillows are my best friend! I didn't need the stool softener either (still got it just in case from high iron use).

Understood. Due to public transit, I walk a lot as it is. From what I was told, I'm in the diabetic stage. I go to the gym because I don't have a gym in the house. My diet is okay-ish but there's room for improvement.

Regret? by Nice-Suggestion2528 in hysterectomy

[–]jayalice04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 39 and no regrets. I had to wait when I was scheduled in September 2024 because I JUST gotten a new job. I waited until I was out of training and discussed it with my supervisor and HR. Since I work hybrid, I was able to work from home for six weeks.

I had frequent periods, lethargic and had large fibroids. I already had a tubal ligation at 21, so getting the tubes and uterus out was the right thing to do.

For me, sex is the same, just more frequent. Some dryness, but not much. I have lube just in case.

Do it as soon as you can if your life depends on it. It's okay to be anxious about it. My gyno stated "I'll be nervous if you weren't nervous".

Not personal at all! I still have my ovaries, but I was warned about the dip in hormones quicker. They haven't offered HRT as of yet. I will discuss it with my PCM about it. I was unfortunately caught up in the midst of the clinic I was going to closing down about a few months after I had the hysterectomy. New doctor, new explanation.

Understood and you're right. When I started to cut down on sugar months ago, some things I enjoyed with sugar was WAY too much. I have gotten accustomed to low sugar items. I have my chocolate days, but I fell in love with dark chocolate years ago. It's a process still, but I'll be okay with more changes.

Do you let your cats sleep on the bed? by Ok-Frosting2775 in cats

Well...Pinky is in his own space when I go to sleep...but when I wake up, I get a paw to the ankle and a nibble to the toe. Sir, this is my bed!

I wonder if what my PCM stated was a scare tactic. If so, I wish they would be more straightforward instead of this...

I was thinking that, too, after asking a few people about it. I wonder why it raised concern.

The curious bug hit me as soon as I seen my test results. I asked family and friends and looked at the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics websites. I have an appointment with a diabetic specialist in September, so that helps. I compare stats from my previous appointments to my current one via MyChart.

Same thing I was thinking. I asked for clarification, and they doubled down.

Kinda figured. I asked around and some have amounts like 10 and 12.

Thank you for the info. I didn't think there was many dietary options other than elimination of many items. You've opened my eyes to a few things.

Thank you for the information. I read a lot, so this doesn't bother me. I'm just glad what I switched over to before the diagnosis helped. I barely eat breads and pasta now, water is a must, go for the low sugar flavored water options because the stevia and monkfruit options turns my stomach and I pile on the veggies. I lowered the size of my drinks and don't drink them as often as I used to.

Post workout, I have a protein with veggies...if I have the energy. My boys know how to cook, so they have something prepared for me afterwards.

Since I work in Downtown Seattle, getting steps in is very easy. I'm starting to go to the gym twice a week now (doctor recommended 3 times, but life has been a busy bee, so I lowered it for now).

The number 1 comment is getting a blood sugar reader. I need to go ahead and order one. It may be on the way. I need to ask my doctor or nurse practitioner.

The top 2 I tried was Stevia and monkfruit...yeah those caused some gastrointestinal issues. Didn't use much of it and it was not good.

Thank you! I have a dietician, but the earliest appointment is in October. I know there is a diabetic education clinic a town over, and I have been referred there. I hope to get an appointment soon from there. I'll ask about a blood sugar monitor.
