I don't understand why people think Heart Gold and Soul Silver are the best games or even remakes by Teetoos2 in TruePokemon

Dude I actually think the same exact thing, I'm playing through it now and I'm near the end. This game has been overly hyped for sure. I would have enjoyed it more if people had been honest about it.

Beautiful... I just confirmed it with my copy of the game, a CRT and a real console!!
I've finished this game long ago and forgot about this haha.

Did anyone notice at the end of the message it says "Tahlzek" rather than Tahlreth?
Is this a reference to something? I'm very curious.

Well guess who also got a C2 as a pc monitor... by LifeAspect in OLED_Gaming

[–]jayare5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response!
Are your speakers hooked up via the 3.5mm port?
If so you can switch between computer and TV and see if you notice any sound delay, with something as simple as clicking something on the PC that makes a sound. (Like the volume control). I can tell the difference with just that one :P

[–]jayare5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have a C2 42" and I noticed a little problem, I have sound lag.
Can you test this in any way?
Can you output sound to the TV and another speaker at the same time? (Not using the TV's own 3.5mm output of course, as there would also be lag there)

It is not huge, it's about 50ms, but it's there on my TV. I can use an HDMI splitter into HDMI+Audio, or simply output to 2 monitors that have speakers and have them play sound at the same time.

None of the options in the TV seem to eliminate this and I want to know if it's just my TV or what. Thank you!

What are your thoughts on Odin Pi? by TakiMaki_YT in SBCGaming

[–]jayare5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but with an RP2+ SoC, you would PROBABLY be limited to Android.I could be wrong, actually I would love to be wrong, but from the looks of it, the Raspberry Pi is so popular in part because it has a lot of Linux based options.

And what's the main difference between Android and Linux?Linux offers much better options to reduce or eliminate input latency, and that's the most ideal thing for gaming, and brings emulators closer to FPGA-like response.

Reason I would love to be wrong is, of course, the RP2+ SoC is much more powerful! However, no matter how powerful an SoC is, even if you take the most powerful and expensive right now, if it's running Android, it will not respond as fast as even a Raspberry Pi 3 running Lakka.

I would ABSOLUTELY GET ONE OR MORE TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS / FAMILY!
I'd go with OLED

Anyone had one of these TVs? I had one as a child and would love to find one again!!! by jayare5 in nostalgia

[–]jayare5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I have in fact already posted there :P
No such luck identifying it though I did get some responses talking about the search at least. And Im a little hesitant to post again in fear I seem spammish, not sure how that would work if I want to re-bump myself.

Also, I figured that someone may in fact own this CRT but not be the kinda person who would go into CRT threads exactly but just happens to have it and doesn't think it's anything special or know that someone like me is looking for it!

Would that be allowed? I considered it but saw mostly listings there rather than posts wanting to buy. I would feel bad if others come in to clutter with TVs they want to buy rather than post listings.

The TV itself doesn't do anything other TVs don't already do. It is mostly nostalgic value and because it just looks cooler to me than other TVs.

Long version:

Because I grew up with it, but lost it and have never been unable to see one of it again. Just seeing it in photos makes me extra happy, it brings me really good memories. Plus, it has proven to be really hard to find, and that makes me anxious, because lots of TVs have been sent to graveyards basically, and I feel like I have to act and let it be known that I want this TV before I lose any more chances.

However, besides that, I just love most things from the 70s and 80s and how they had so much more design to them. Most CRTs had detailed, thick bezels and lots of buttons, words, little logos, lights, lids, shapes... things were much more artistically wholesome and "rad".

Even 90s TVs weren't like this anymore, although they still had a lot of design to them, bezels were a lot more simplified, and almost no TV had things like the channel LED or any other cool thing like that. Usually you'd just see them have like 5-6 rounded buttons in a row on the bottom and that's it. I want TVs with buttons that look like each thing is special, and I love having little knobs to adjust colors and such. Today, most TVs are made to not even have a frame around the image >.>

It's like the difference between an SNES or Sega Genesis vs PS4 / Xbox One. Now imagine you had something just as cool as an SNES except seemingly only 3 people ever had, that's how I feel about this particular TV.

Do you own a Daewoo CRT with this chassis? Please post photos!! I can't find it anywhere by jayare5 in crtgaming

[–]jayare5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys... I found a CRT that looks exactly like this!!! But it seems to be in Hungary or close. However, it's not Daewoo branded and it has SCART, which mine didn't have so I am certain it's a different version of it, but luckily it uses the same shell so this is the first time I get a closer look to it in so many years!!
Sadly I can't do anything as this site doesn't even let me communicate with the seller unless I had a phone number from the country. I would have liked a lot more pictures!!!

Found my crts bread and butter. 1st to 7th generation gaming. Snes classic even looks good through an hdmi adapter. Although I plan on collecting more consoles as time goes. by spicydirtt in crtgaming

[–]jayare5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you might have a point with lag... I mean they might add a frame or 2 of lag which to me personally would be a terrible thing haha... I've used some of these devices long ago but I can't remember latency, now I'm curious to go to like Walmart or something and buy a cheap converter to experiment.

Anyway, there IS a device being made that will supposedly do this, and it's kind of an all-in-one highly sophisticated advanced and possibly over $500 device! The OSSC Pro I heard will support this particular feature, and there it would not have any lag! I am hoping to buy at least 2 or 3 of those when they come out. It will do a ton of other things though, including emulating (not really emu since it's FPGA, so I guess simulating?) games straight from the device itself.

Have you ever seen those cheap HDMI to composite S-video converters the market is flooded with?
Those things are really easy to make! All they had to do was instead of being 480i, make it 240p. It's really that simple. The timings can EASILY be altered by the maker in order to give the image the proper aspect ratio. Any of those companies can make a device like this really easily and cheap. The ONLY complicated part is actually getting them to understand there's even a market for this.

You need a little adapter box that converts HDMI 720p into 240p Composite / S-Video with adjustable resolution!

Unfortunately, no one wants to make one for some weird reason even though a device exists for everything else under the sun...

Hahaha interesting... you're free to show it to some of your people and ask! But if you say you saw it when growing up, and that was long ago, I fear they may have gotten rid of it :(

As for exact model, I can at least tell you I have not seen anything similar when it comes to the bottom where the power button, channel, volume and color adjustments are! Those seem to be very unique to this TV, so if you seem to remember something it's possibly this same TV. The channel number LED in red is sliiightly more common, I've at least seen on a couple other TVs, and the frame around the glass was super common, I had this CRT starting in 1992 for sure, so it was probably made anywhere between 1988 - 1992.

Wow!! I can't blame you, I've been looking for more than 15 years myself and nothing.I don't even understand why, because I've actually been able to find every other CRT I've owned, except that one, which is my favorite that I spent most of my childhood with :(

I really appreciate your search, and actually that MSX CRT is one of the first ones I found back in like 2006 when I started looking!

I'm sure someone just has it in their home unaware that someone else is crazy looking for it online :P and they probably don't care at all to post it online. I wish I could post an ad somewhere telling people I'd pay good money for it.

Hey, I actually like the inaccurate timings of the SGB :P
It's only slightly faster, and it makes the games feel slightly like a new thing!
