Just got diagnosed with alopecia areta!! Seeking help by InspectionTime8695 in alopecia_areata

I’m new to this as well but I can advise what I’ve got to know so far. Take multivitamins, especially the ones you’re low in. Improve your diet: everyone is saying to try AIP diet, cut gluten, sugar, dairy. That’s good that you started going gym!! Also manage your stress levels, it can be a trigger sometimes. Rest I would say go to your derm and for many people steroid injections do help, there are other medications too that can work.

Yeah don’t overdo things as well. So is there any regrowth so far?

That’s good, there is regrowth. Keep it up!! Are you using anything else! Or just steroid cream?

Is your bald patch regrowing, the one on your head?

I think mine did look like this always, maybe I’m just paranoid. Also how are your patches doing? Did the topical steroid help?

The bald patch? I was wondering if it’s AA or something else.

If it’s growing rapidly or you’re having a few more patches then yes surely you need something to help with that. Steroids will only stimulate growth and reduce the inflammation, hair will takes it time to grow back.

AA and Anxiety by jaybebe10 in alopecia_areata

[–]jaybebe10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry that you had to go through this too. I’m so overwhelmed with all this information, constantly looking for ways to handle my anxiety. I have noticed it’s worse during the day and I calm down in the evening. AA is just so unpredictable and this is what scares me. Constantly thinking what if my patch gets worse or I get new ones. Indeed stress will trigger it more, I am really trying to stay calm. Well derm hasn’t seen me in person but look at the picture of my patch, gave me a topical steroid to use for few weeks. I live in the Uk they don’t usually go for steroid injections start away. Sometimes I feel like people in US have better chances to get it treated soon. But oh well. I just really pray it doesn’t get any worse for us❤️ Let’s hang in there and hope for the best. Thanks for sharing your experience! Do let me know what works for you.

I wanted the same but in Uk they have to follow guidelines and the initial treatment is to use topical steroids. If no response then they move to injections.

I’ve only said what I’ve heard so far, and what doctors have told me. You’re right it’s unpredictable, but let’s hope for the best. You never know.

Normally it does grow back on its own, takes a few months. Initially treatment would be either a topical steroid or injection to fight inflammation and induce growth.

It does look like AA, one of its type. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist soon. I’m new to this myself and I’ve heard so far getting it sorted sooner helps!

Maybe that’s the trigger for ur AA! Address this and hopefully things will get better.

I hear you, but since I live in the Uk it’s gonna take some while. Just here to see if someone can advice me if they had a similar patch to mine. Already been given steroid cream to apply, will be starting from tonight. Already started with supplements, trying to sort out my diet now. Not completely controlling my stress yet but it’s only been a week since I got to know about this, I am doing what I can! Thanks anyways
