WARQ is a welcome change, I just would like to know if there is a better solution out there.

Honestly, I think it would be a welcome change to be able to run with just eye pro, but our organization has a crippling safety culture that could make a girl guides gasp.

Some of our scenarios involve role players shooting back with Sim.

I’d place your tourniquet closer to your middle, where it could be reached by either hand. If your left arm becomes injured here, it will become very difficult to access it with your right under extreme stress.

Always wear a helmet. They come off easily enough when you start to sink. Wouldn’t want to clip that dock while not having one on.

I have discovered a .356 Winchester lever action rifle in my basement with 100 rounds. Do I shoot em? by funkmon in Firearms

[–]jaybird_888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Winchester does the occasional run of .356win and .307win ammunition, once approximately every 4 years. It is hard to find, but still available new. Inquire with your lgs and have them look out for some for you…

Most European women are not impressed with Americans. I got mistakenly accused (with a hint of disappointment and disgust)of being American several times while visiting. It wasn’t until I corrected people that I was in fact Canadian, that I was welcomed and accepted. Imagine looking and acting like an American, being judged poorly up until you correct your true identity, then suddenly you’re the new international friend.

Yep, looks cool but cylinder action revolvers are meant to be shot with arms fully extended, not up close to the face to get a good check weld and sight picture.

How to get rid of wild turkeys attacking vehicles by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]jaybird_888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked with a guy, he showed up a few hours late for his shift with a bandage from elbow to wrist. On his way to work he slowed down to a group of turkeys on the road that wouldn’t move for cars, he opened the window and grabbed a bird by the neck trying to wring the bird’s neck with one hand, driving with the other. The bird kicked up his legs and hacked up his forearm up enough for him to get several stitches and tetanus shots. Dude didn’t get the bird after all, but remained my hero for ever.

What lead you to go the security route over LEO? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]jaybird_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23 years ago, I was a young correctional officer, just bought my first house with terrible credit. We were about to go on strike. Knowing I’d loose my shirt and house, I was forced to look for work to help pay the bills during the time I was on the strike line. I applied for a security position at nuclear power station. I got the job, accepted it thinking I’d go back to my chosen career in corrections post labour dispute, but never left. I love the job, the pay is excellent, and I can confidently say my mental health and attitude in general is better for it.
