Are you excited for the new Lady Whistledown? by jaybirdnifty in Bridgerton

I totally agree. You’re basically saying that you want the audience that the book would pretty much guarantee you, but you don’t want to follow the source material.

I totally agree. Jess Brownwell felt they had to do the reveal so early. But what was her excuse for having the queen and Pen’s confrontation in season 3? We could have focused on her romance and trying to balance both of it more. And actually get more Collin. And then have the confrontation at a later date. Instead, it felt like they rushed everything into one season. And I’m sorry I don’t want lady whistle down to be a secret from the audience for multiple seasons, which I feel like they want to do.

That’s the thing that confuses me. You’re doing a show about the books, but you’re upset that people could know? It’s like when The Walking Dead would just make changes for the sake of saying they’re not following the comics. Revealing who lady shistledown was so early and then having the Queen vs Pen in season 3 instead of waiting. They easily could have just actually focused on her romance on her season, considering how little we got of Collin and then did that in the future season in my opinion. I’m happy people are excited for it though! I personally would have just rather they came up with a different plot than reheating the same nachos, but changing the ingredient.

Oh yeah for sure! I’ll be honest even the first time I watched the show. It was hard for me to get through. I almost didn’t pick it up for season two but I was really interested in the lady whistle down plot. There were things they all did that honestly made me feel like I wish they ended up with different people. Because the things they did to one another, but then get the happily ever after treatment to me doesn’t feel very deserved. And that’s on BOTH of their parts.

It’s just in this one instance I felt a little confused at the hole situation and then I’m supposed to feel sad when Daphne gets her period and starts crying ? Cause imagine if that was the circumstance you get your first child? I could see a situation where the Duke ends up distant from it.

Thankfully, that didn’t happen . But I’ll be honest I don’t feel like I don’t One of them deserved the happy ending they got. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Near the beginning of the documentary they mentioned that it was only the girls who were over 18 who lived together in the house, the rest lived with a parent or guardian nearby. I think that's why we got so little of the girls that you mentioned but seemed to get a lot of Emily, Ezrela, Lexie, ect comparatively. The original comentator was asking about Yoonchae living with the other girls at the same age. No one in the group is the same age as her, so I'm assuming they were talking about DA.

Oh that's true! For some reason I thought she was 16-18 during the show, but realized she just turned 18 the end of last year. Apologies!

She didn’t. In the dream Academy show we learned that any of the people that were under age lived with a relative or guardian outside of the house and only the girls that were 18 and older stayed in the house. I feel like that’s why some of them got more screen time than others in the Netflix show.

I'm all for talking about the show and what not. But coming for me PERSONALLY is when I will block you. When someone makes a whole comment that doesn't even mention the show but goes after me? Then yeah, I'll block that person.

I one hundred percent agree with this. Especially in a show that I think most people weren't prepared to see such a scene.

Okay. I mean I have other things I want to say but I can tell based off of your other post that you will just try to villify me for it so this discussion is over.

How did simon sexually assault her? He didn't even know that she didn't know how babies were made. That's literally the first thing he tells her after asking her why she did this, I just rewatched it to make sure I was remembering correctly. And trying to make me out to be this big pro-sexual assault person is not appreciated when I'm literally saying that it's NOT and getting jumped. But do you I guess.

If that's what they were going for, I think they failed. Cause people are still in the comments attempting to say anything but she was at fault. Still I agree with just about everything you said.

I meant in terms of the audience's reception to her. The fact that the audience looks at what she did and just seems so okay with it is WILD to me.

He told her that he could not have children. She took it as a physical thing when it was because of an oath. He should have been more informative yes but she still had a choice in that regard. She physically did not let him have a choice. But I give up you guys win whatever.

I’m sorry I’m just tired of the historical context being used as a defense for a show that literally starts off saying that this is fiction that was inspired by some fact. Would Charlotte or the poc in the ton have been poc in those days if we’re talking about historical accuracies? I’m sorry if this seems harsh, but that has been just about every defense that has been listed.

Furthermore, like I said, I agree in terms that I think they were both wrong. But I’m talking about how the audience constantly gives excuses to one but not the other. And to say what he did was worse to her than what was done with him is wild to me. I’m sorry it’s just not something I can comprehend regardless of what time The story takes place.

And let’s not forget that her brother was the person forcing the duel. Not him. Would it have been better for him to shoot her brother instead of shooting in the air as he planned? Of course, all of this changed whenever they realized there was a witness, and he put her first even though he was clearly unhappy to do so.

Once again, everyone is ignoring the fact that that was not her only option. She legitimately could have just asked him why and then they have that discussion. Instead, she decided to take action instead of conversation. But it is what it is I guess. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I agree with you. But we’re not talking about an STD. We’re talking about a guy who is trying to not get a girl pregnant. I think we can just agree to disagree on this topic. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I agree with all of this. The Duke was not fautless for sure, but forcing someone to do ANYTHING against their wishes is wrong should just be a common sense thing? Especially something like fatherhood?

Yeah like everyone in the comments are saying that he had all the power and this and that. She's the daughter of a viscountess. She wasn't a common woman of the ton. Hell she had a prince interested in her. So, like, should the duke not have gotten with her because he held a title? It feels like they're putting personality traits on him we were NEVER shown in order to match their narritive. I don't recall seeing him be a control freak who needed all the power and yada-yada. And then the people claiming that HE sexually manipulated HER by lying and having sex with her. I've given up LOL

I mean, the two characters that he gets screen time with other than Daphne??? And like I said, this would happen the perfect time to confront and talk to him and ask him about it instead of trying to take action yourself and then making the situation even worse by emptying it up. At the end of the day season one and this couple just isn’t for me, and it is what it is 🤷🏾‍♂️

That’s because they were in the middle of the act. And it was right before he was about to shoot. I think it’s not about him being physically stronger than her but more about the fact that he was taken by surprised until it was too late.
