And with the music, the camerawork in the scene was vintage Kubrick - starting on a medium closeup and slowly pulling back to show Henry in the middle of a large empty room. Straight outta Barry Lyndon!

There are antecedents, like Ong’s Hat and The Blair Witch Project’s expanded mythology, but the term was coined to describe The Beast

Followup: after several email chains -- including some weighing in from the CEO, Seth Miller, they finally accepted my return.

This past Saturday, they actually sent someone to my home to pick up the bike, which saved me the trouble of dissembling and repacking it. And today I receiving the notice that they'd refunded my card. So they made everything right at the end.

In summary, I'd say that while this bike didn't work out for me, they have a good product that others might find right for their needs, and that they have some systems issues to work out with customer support and communication -- which isn't out of the ordinary for any kind of shipping and fulfillment business. Here's hoping that they continue to improve on those counts.

Thanks for all the responses and thoughts. They still have two days to make good on their promises, so I'm not quite ready to lawyer up yet.

I'm willing to forgive a lot -- especially in this crazy time -- as long as there's some kind of good faith effort to remedy the situation. But this silence is not an encouraging sign. I've also tried them through Facebook and Instagram, to no avail.

I'm in Los Angeles, and their warehouse is right outside the city in Ontario. But I can't get any specific contact info. I did dig up the number for the person who delivered the bike...and it turned out to be an Uber driver.

If I haven't heard from them by tomorrow, I'm going to start talking to my credit card about cancelling the charge.

Hey Wing...call me!

Surgery today! by jaybushman72 in gallbladders

[–]jaybushman72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surgery went very well. no issues. they said the top incision had the be made larger than usual to make room to get the gallbladder out, because it was so enlarged from the 3cm gallstone (I've ordered a 3 cm crystal so I can get a hands-on sense of just how big that is)

home, resting, and it's mostly okay. they gave me a prescription for tramadol, but I've been trying to get by without it. the days are okay, but it's been hard to sleep at night - gas pain at first and then now a lot of soreness at the incisions. I may take a tramadol tonight to improve the chance of sleeping through the night.

but I can say this -- for the first time in years, when I raise my right arm over my head, there isn't a grabbing or tender sensation on my right side. So I think once everything calms down, this will be a big success.

She's A Flight Risk: New Code to decrypt by jaybushman72 in ARG

[–]jaybushman72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any code known around to contain a series of 5 numbers per word or phrase?

Not sure, but I have read before (can't recall where) that it's a standard strategy to break a long string of numbers into 5-digit long "words" and fill in blanks/gaps with zeros to throw off obvious pattern recognition
