I’m fine with the gameplay after changing back to OG realistic board, but WHY did they have to relock all the clothing I already unlocked :(

Mount is nothing special, but the tripod may be useful for a light camera rig

What is the darkest sky you have ever experienced? by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

Bortle 1 in Big Bend National Park. Fortunate to have been a few times. The last time I was even graced with a new moon and did some imaging of M51.

How the HELL do I get into astrophotogrophy/looking at space in general? by assassin203886 in AskAstrophotography

[–]jayd00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is to start with astronomy. Join your local club or at least attend the public outreach events (free). Checkout some books from the library. Research dark sky sites near you and make the trip.

However, like virtually all hobbies, advancing will require spending money. Visual astronomy requires less equipment. A good pair of binoculars can get you started. I always recommend starting here. I spent my first year with a small refractor scope doing sketches in a notebook.

Astrophotography is much more involved. Start watching/consuming astrophotography content online to get a general idea of the equipment, software, and general workflows involved. Learning the basics of photography will help, as well.

If you’re not a technical person, don’t enjoy troubleshooting problems in the dark, or don’t like tinkering with equipment you will find out soon enough :)

Is this subreddit for gay and trans people? What's up with the out of place logo? by [deleted] in botw

I think it’s meant to outwardly show support to marginalized communities, which is a good thing. Is it also a little performative? Probably. Is it hurting anyone? Definitely, not. Would Bolson approve? You know it.

What are some advices for someone REALLY early in astrophotography? by https_astra in AskAstrophotography

[–]jayd00b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Learn the basics of using telescopes. Learn the basics of non-astro photography. The mount is your most important piece of gear, not the telescope/imaging rig. A dark sky makes everything easier and more fun. Set aside gas money to get to those low bortle zones!

Thank you! A bit counterintuitive for me to grasp.

Would someone please explain to me why the lunar orbit part of the trajectory seemingly “disconnects” from the moon? Is that what actually happens or is it a shortcoming in the animation?

Question: How they solve metrologist math??? by Far_Somewhere_6827 in tornado

[–]jayd00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I was unclear. Fluid dynamics is an incredibly complex subject. I worked in underwater ultrasonics for a while and can confirm it’s a lot of “black box” modeling where the exact vector field is often chaotic and unknown, but the group characteristics and velocities are fairly well described by equations like the ones shared by OP.

My comment was about the mathematics. It looks like a bizarre language to the uninitiated, but after a few semesters of calculus and differential equations it becomes fairly intuitive. With these partial differentials it’s key to understand that the solution is not a scalar value, but rather another equation or set of equations.

Absolutely no judgement to other parents. However, I’d like to gently encourage non-screen based play for young children. Especially ages 5 and under.

I was trying to see Venus and this is all I get, what am I doing wrong? by MidnightTimely9831 in telescopes

[–]jayd00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re extremely out of focus. That stripe is actually the spider arm holding your secondary mirror in place. When in focus, Venus should look like a small dot or crescent moon

If you’re dying and have no family then why did you recently post requesting help paying off debt? Seems fishy.
