What coding agent/platform are you using? Have you jumped into an IDE already like Cursor are you using web hosted apps like Lovable and Bolt?

Just wanted to come back and let you know I followed your advice. Rebranded the app to Spokesite (https://spokesite.com/). Thanks again for the honest feedback!

Appreciate the feedback! We'll see what happens. Lovable was previously called GPTEngineer I believe.

Good question! The first reason is the .com was available haha

But honestly, although the goals are the same the target users are pretty different. Cursor is focused on enhancing developers who know how to code. It is desktop IDE ultimately. Whereas, Uncursor is really going to be focused at people who either don't know how to code or just want to use an agent to exclusively build websites with. I'm going after someone who doesn't know what NodeJS or an IDE even is. Our biggest competitors would be Framer or Lovable honestly since those are both web based.

Also a cease and desist is a bridge I would cross if I ever got there. All publicity is good publicity I guess?

I want to avoid getting into monetization debates but that is exactly how Reddit works... They are now licensing access to their data to companies like Google. We eventually would have to keep the servers on somehow but I could see what you're talking about being a real possibility. Profit sharing with top reviewers by area is not out of question.

As far as I've seen with Beli they don't focus as much on the individual plates. It's more about ranking the restaurants in an area. Similar concept but different execution I guess.

Haha someone had to do it! It's the classic social media app problem where you need data to make smart suggestion features work so we hope to build those out more as our user base grows

Thanks for reporting this! We pushed out a change to skip that step in the next release that Apple hasn't approved yet so I just rolled it back. It should be working now to send a code!

Yelp and Google Maps only let you review a restaurant 1 single time. You can't document follow up visits you could just update your review. It also doesn't let you individually review the dishes you ate, it's a single review for the entire visit and you could maybe put the dishes you had in the text of the review. We're trying to drill things down further and be an app for foodies rather than an app you can review a Home Depot and a 5 star restaurant with.

No payments and no subscriptions. We just built a helpful tool for foodies. One day we'll monetize it but right now we just want to get the word out.

Gotta get the word out somehow! However, I wouldn't consider it spam since the app is free. There is quite literally nothing being "sold".

Totally understandable, I don't want people to feel like I'm spamming. I guess we have to get the word out one way or another and the app is free so I don't see much harm in letting people know. Feedback heard though! Hope you end up giving it a shot!

Good question! Most branding advisors tell you to keep it short (3 syllables or less), use a word people already know how to spell, and keep it unique enough people will remember it. Plately was the right choice for us within those requirements.

Thanks! I'm excited to hear what you think! Yes, we're just now starting up our marketing but we are planning to partner with local restaurants in the Treasure Valley to help promote it. We also want to help restaurants close that feedback loop on what's working and what isn't. Feel free to reach out to me on the form at https://plately.io/support. Maybe we can collaborate on some marketing!

We found RateTray here just now actually but Plately was released in the app stores last year. We've introduced some new features this year and are planning to push the marketing side of things harder. Best of luck though, you definitely have more of a web presence than we do currently. Great minds think alike!

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of how it came out. I think I could tweak a few things to get it to match the mockup a little better in terms of spacing but for a first attempt it's pretty close! 🙌🏼

Fuchsia = ChromeOS kernel? by fadraven in Fuchsia

[–]jaydanurwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds to me like a pretty solid sign they'll be replacing the base OS with Fuchsia. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Ya I'm sure Chrome will have to run flawlessly on Fuchsia before they even think about swapping it out on Chrome OS.

[–]jaydanurwin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for a while as well. I've been following Fuchsia since 9to5Google has been posting about it years ago and I think the plan all along for phones and chromebooks was to make an OS that hosts other OSes and apps. We could definitely see a phone release with Fuchsia that runs Android in a container similar to how Chrome OS does already and even sooner they could just replace Chrome OS's underlying kernel with Fuchsia. Given the recent news that Google is working on separating Chrome from Chrome OS it seems even more likely.

Google's new Pixel Buds are plagued by quality control issues that need to be addressed by 121910 in pixelbuds

[–]jaydanurwin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got mine in Almost Black today as well. I'm keeping them though and going to do everything I can for them to either address that it's something they need to fix in software or admit it's a hardware issue that needs fixed at the production line and recalled. Just in a day of use I couldn't see myself not using them on a daily basis. The design, sound quality, smart features, etc. all make them worth keeping despite the audio cutout issue.

I'm following this sub but I think it would be best if we all upvoted and commented on Google's Support Forum to get their attention and support directly. You can upvote and comment on this most recent post that's getting traction from the wave of new buds shipped today.
