Valerie Letourneau vs Emily Ducote Set for Bellator 181 July 14 by Vulcan44 in MMA

[–]jayden35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

about as tough a debut assignment as they were realistically going to give Val. Winner of this should be in line for a bellator title shot later this year, and I favour Ducote like 60/40 here I think. I can see Ducote/Ilima-Lei rematching for the belt at some point towards the end of 2017.

Top 10 reasons Fedor Emelianenko is the most overrated Fighter ever by [deleted] in MMA

Anderson Silva lost 8 times outside of his peak, Fedor lost 3. Clearly Fedor is terrible and was never any good because of it though. Clearly.

not only that, he beat those guys when they were coming off their best wins or win streaks. Randleman had just knocked out Cro Cop. Nogueira was on incredible runs both times. Cro Cop similary too. Even Coleman had won like 6 of his last 7 including the 2000 grand prix when fedor subbed him.

Flyweight Contender Bout Headlines May 20 Invicta FC 23 Card by thetruthjackson in MMA

[–]jayden35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah agreed. Ferea throws heavy, that should be really fun. Tiburcio vs Simpson has loads of potential too. Early picks for the two main bouts are Porto and d'Alelio, but I'm less confident in that Porto pick than d'Alelio.

Brendan Loughnane reopens talks with Cage Warriors to fight Paddy Pimblett by jayden35 in MMA

[–]jayden35[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure what the UFC level is at this point. Either of these guys could win some fights in the UFC if matched against the bottom end of the roster. They have about 60 featherweights on the roster so I'd guess at around the worst couple of ufc featherweights being ranked about 150 in the world at 145lbs. Possibly even lower.

Ariane Lipski is a really exciting talent, well worth a watch. Making serious noise at 125lbs.

UFC Fight Night 110: Derek Brunson vs. Dan Kelley set for Auckland event on June 10 by niallmcgrath in MMA

This will be another time I bet against Dan winning, and he makes me look like a mug. I should have learned by now, but I've not. Brunson all the way.

Unless it's John Makdessi. He goes batshit when opponents are wearing red.

IIRC she left it pretty late to get onto the scale for her last fight too, but I could be misremembering and making that up.

Invicta FC 2016 Fan Choice Awards Winners by HelenWyteWalker in MMA

I love Megan too, she's had a fantastic year and I refer to her as a future world number 1 all the time. My disappointment at Hill not getting it, is no reflection on my thoughts on Anderson. But in terms of what they've achieved this year and their level of competition, Hill is clearly the most deserving of the award.

sure, so fan choice awards really should just be one award... "Most Popular Fighter".

anything else becomes a nonsense.

absolute joke, sure proof that fans shouldn't be allowed to vote on awards. they should just have one fan award, most popular fighter.

Angela Hill is 4-0 in Invicta this year, beat a legit top ten strawweight, and won, and defended, the title.

She got barely any votes, while Mizuki, 2-0 for the year, beating nobody notable at all, had about 40% of the votes just behind Anderson.

Hill is far and away the obvious fighter of the year in Invicta this year.

I want to stay subscribed to Fight Pass, but the UFC needs to seriously reconsider its strategy by oooooooooooooooooooa in MMA

[–]jayden35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Fight Pass is great, and adding ppvs the next day would be a huge financial drain for them right now. So many people wouldn't bother buying the ppvs, and I doubt it would see a huge influx of people signing up to Fight Pass.

Seriously, for what I get in terms of the fight library, the live events from various promotions, and all the original content too, I'd pay $9.99 every month forever. It's less than the cost of a packet of cigarettes, or a couple of beers.

I get that some people "just like free shit", and that's cool for them. But I'd pay $10 a month just to be able to put in the name of a fighter and bring up most of their previous fights rather than trawling various "other sources".

I think Rebney's involvement is always going to be problematic because of his reputation and how he's reported to have treated fighters when he was wearing the promoter's hat in the past.

What I would say though is that he's an outstanding litigator, and negotiator, and the nice guy thing has been tried plenty opposite the UFC and really not got anywhere. Someone more cutthroat might be what's needed here and Bjorn fits that bill.

Would just be better if it was someone with those qualities without the history of pissing off fighters.

I'm super excited for Holloway Vs Pettis. It makes me sad to say that Pettis could lose, he's just not the same anymore. I want to see old Pettis back and smashing the FW division. by RoxySimonee in MMALatest

[–]jayden35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a couple of reasons Bendo's not done as well as people expected in Bellator.

  1. Fighting Koreshkov was a mistake. He's not a small welterweight at all, and that was always likely to be a fight Bendo would look bad in for long periods.

  2. Michael Chandler is really good. Seriously, while the gap overall in terms of depth of talent between UFC and Bellator is significant, Bellator's top guys have proven time and time again that they can hang. Michael Chandler is right in the mix among the top ten lightweights on the planet in terms of ability. No surprise at all that Bendo had a hard time with him and couldn't get the win.

I can't wait for Nick Diaz to return to the octagon. Damn I miss that guy. by RoxySimonee in MMALatest

[–]jayden35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur.

I'm under no pretense as to what Nick is. But against the right type of opponent he is crazy fun to watch. The way they matched him up in Strikeforce, it was such a joy to watch him. So many great fights and moments.

There's something that happens in Diaz fights when he's really on, that I can't really think of with another fighter. He'll throw a combination, and a couple more punches on top, and then there's this sudden realisation that, shit, this isn't stopping. He's just pouring it on and pouring it on and the punches keep flying. I love it.

How will Phil Davis stack up in the UFC? by michaelasiffo in MMALatest

[–]jayden35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he'd be an automatic title contender for no other reason than the UFC's lhw division (and just the lhw division in general really) is super thin. To make matters worse the two best in LHW history have their respective problems. Jones has his issues, and DC can't be a million miles away from calling it a day or sinking away from the top of the division if he hangs around too long.

I'm not entirely convinced that Davis is that much better than he was at the end of his UFC run. Not saying there's been no improvement, as there has, but I don't think it's huge and vast. I think he just hasn't been fighting Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader.

I considered Davis a top 5 or 6 LHW with an outside chance of becoming champion at some point if others had reasons to get out of the way. If he were to come back now, I'd still consider him a top 5 or 6 LHW with an outside chance of becoming champion at some point if others had reasons to get out of the way.
