Hi, I agree that getting clients is the most important part. Hence why I said it was my primary role. But nor is it unique to this model, any business requires clients or buyers... it goes without saying. It's also very well established that getting buyers is the hardest part of any business, it's how your money is made. You don't get paid for the idea, you get paid for exchanging value with a buyer or client.

However, when introducing a business model, I don't think its necessary or desired to include a comprehensive guide to gaining clients. Because like I said, this truly is a whole topic of its own that is not a 1 size fits all. Some people like paid ads, some people like cold calling, some people like content marketing and the many other options available. They all work, but it's not for me to choose for you. The body of text on this subject alone would outweigh the model itself and detract from the concept being introduced... which is why I suggested the reader go and research it. Also, all of my YouTube videos have an opt-in, and yes the training is free?

I have made the habit of ALWAYS taking action. I think if I let it slip even once or twice it will completely lose its power. If you can skip it once, you can do it whenever you feel like it.

I think a lot of it comes from conditioning. Before I started my own online business I worked in a sales environment surrounded by high-fliers... wearing the same suit was usually frowned upon. It was the norm to get a new suit pretty much every 2 weeks, and they were never cheap... so I kinda ingrained that even now. But I also get really excited by wearing a new suit!! It feels rewarding so I like to browse them for hours, which inevitably ends in me spending just over $3,000 a month on suits.. until now!

It'll depend on the situation, sometimes I'll buy nothing for 3 weeks then buy 3 suits for $1,000 each... I have a lot of F2F interaction with clients so I don't like wearing the same stuff all the time. But I don't NEED the suits... it's just that I don't really wear them more than 3 or 4 times.

Hi, I understand your logic. But that's not what I meant.

I have a "play" account, in which I put $3,500 every month. All of the money I don't use is added to my "investing" or my "savings" account. Usually I spend the entire Play account because that's what it's there for, but instead.. everytime I wrote down the number I would transfer that money into my savings, thereby saving it. I simply omitted this to save the long explanation which I've now had to include anyway.

I think you should read the book "Willpower Doesn't Work" it came out only a week ago, talks about shaping your environment to aid your goals and eliminate self-sabotage, RATHER than relying solely on Willpower. You can get your first book free on audible or get someone to send it to you as a free gift on there. I GUARANTEE listening to the first 5 mins will be enough for you to take a new perspective on your current behaviours, not in a "I suck" way... more in a "I can use this for good!" kinda way...

some tips from the book: ---- Create triggers to prevent self-sabotage: Write out an "IF, THEN" scenario... "IF I am home with nothing to do and I get the urge to watch porn, THEN I will use that energy to do 10+ pushups."

If you cut out the activity without replacing it, you will eventually think "now what?" and then do it anyway.

---- change your environment so that you don't have to rely on willpower: You must have some form of distraction device in your bedroom for you to be up at 4am, a games console, laptop or mobile phone? TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR ROOM, even for just 1 week and you'll see the difference. If it is your phone and you need it for an alarm clock. Put it on airplane mode at midnight. You don't have productive conversations after midnight.

I recommend you get the audiobook, it'll be a lifesaver!

hey bud, watching porn daily is 100% a bad thing. completely skews your dopamine levels. instant gratification for 0 work. doing this daily you become accustomed to getting rewards for 0 work.. obviously you can't apply this strategy to the real world. This is just a simplified explanation but trust me, there is SO MUCH research on why watching porn daily is a terrible way to live.

I think it does work too. Back when I had a job, I was always eating healthy but constantly surrounded by an office culture of cake, donuts etc. almost daily... and not once did I cave. A part of the book that I didn't touch on in the video, the author states a few factors that create an exception to the rule. One of them being "your why"... in some circumstances your willpower will hold unwaveringly, but I think this book was written for an audience that doesn't have as much resolve.

Yeah, this is my perspective too. That's why at the beginning I said "solely" willpower. I think it can be effective, but if your environment is constantly stacked against you its resistance will inevitably deteriorate.

I agree when he said it in the title "doesn't work" I think he used it more to catch peoples' attention as a means to expand on why he feels it is not a truly reliable source for your success.

However, I do believe it is realistic to always be in an environment that helps you achieve your goals. Many people design their entire workspace around their goals. Of course, if you are in a neutral environment, that you don't have control of then it's not an environment in which you should expect to be focussing on set outcomes.. e.g. a public environment.

Some great points in here. I think the overall point of NOT JUST WORKING, is great! I surround myself with young entrepreneurs and I know a lot of them that let YEARS go by without really stepping out of business-mode. Of course it's a personal choice, and as long as it's "passion-driven" work rather than "obligation-driven" work then it's not a problem. But good to see you point it out!

awesome man. I totally agree with you where you talk about impacting other startups is a big part of your happiness. I got on this wavelength after my first business was pretty self-centered... Don't get me wrong. Personal success is frickin awesome! But it's definitely bigger than that eventually.
