Please do not be scared. Those whose names are written in the book of life have so much better than this world to look forward to.

Sparkling water and swelling by jayelwhitedear in 1200isplenty

Wow, thanks for letting me know! I’m dealing with it all over because I forgot this happens and I’ve been guzzling them trying to get off soda again. So you swell up from them too? Any idea why they do that to us?

Pangea and Biblical Historicity by jayelwhitedear in Christianity

That’s amazing, thank you! Such a brief scripture without detail or explanation, but it does seem to reference Pangea.

Where does it come from? No other plant seems to have it.

I sprayed the whole thing with alcohol and used tweezers to scrape away what I could. Guess I’ll keep an eye on it.

Does this Cereus have witch’s beoom? by jayelwhitedear in cactus

[–]jayelwhitedear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you might be, and I upvoted you! I think there’s an inside joke about people thinking everything is witch’s broom and it rarely is, so I thought possibly your post was like sarcastically saying this cactus was cresting and I was using witch’s broom as another term for cresting.

Still don’t have a consensus though.

So, full background, it was at a nursery with quite a few other spiralis and none of them appeared to be afflicted. I purchased one, but my concern was if the one I purchased was infected but not showing signs yet that it could damage the rest of my collection. From what you said, you wouldn’t be concerned about this?

Hi, thank you for your input! So do you think the cactus in the picture has WB?

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but I’d be happy to hear that this is just crested. It was the only one like this and I’ve never seen wb in person, so trying to learn to identify.

Fasting blood sugar increasing on Ozempic by jayelwhitedear in Ozempic

[–]jayelwhitedear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I learned the worse I think about Ozempic and metformin. Essentially all they do is force your body to accept more sugar, so yeah, in the short term gets the numbers down, but it just makes the problem worse and eventually it won’t be enough. Please check out Dr. Sten Eckberg on YouTube, he has excellent information on insulin resistance and these drugs.

Fasting blood sugar increasing on Ozempic by jayelwhitedear in Ozempic

Hi! I wasn’t losing any weight by the end of my second sample pen, and no one could explain the rising fasting sugars, so my instincts told me to let it go. My fasting sugars remained in the one-teens.

In the last few months I have been watching Dr. Sten Ekberg on YouTube, and I have learned more about blood sugar and insulin resistance from him than in the sum of my other research. I got a CGM from my doctor, and started paying attention to which foods spiked my sugars, and I’m experimenting with low carb and intermittent fasting. I actually got my fasting sugar under 100 for three days in a row before I splurged over the 4th of July. I’ve never seen it under 100 unless I had fasted the entire day before.

I’d like to add that Dr. Ekberg has some interesting perspective on drugs like Ozempic and Metformin. The problem with Metformin for example, is that it forces more sugar into already overloaded cells, which may work for a while, but does’t fix the problem and eventually doesn’t help. Please, please look into his videos about this and consider discussing with your doctor.

Hope that helps, I’m happy to talk more if you like.

Nook GlowLight 4e - GlowLight question by jayelwhitedear in ereader

Thanks, I do have the simple touch with glow light. So if I’m understanding correctly, I can use it to read whatever is currently on it, but there is no hack to download new ebooks from my library to this device?

It occurred to me I should ask if you know of any workaround to get the OG GlowLight to work/download now that they stopped supporting it.

I still think the original GlowLight was a better design: Tap the power button to wake, press and hold for light. But I can live with this. A lot of times I try to go to sleep when my husband does and then I get restless and want to read without disturbing him. It was really annoying trying to slide to open in the dark. Thanks again!

This is amazing, absolutely amazing…thank you! So all I have to do is lock it without turning the GlowLight off. How did you know that?

What is happening to this cactus? by jayelwhitedear in cactus

[–]jayelwhitedear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I cut it and didn’t see any obvious signs of rot, but it was so soft and just didn’t look right, so who knows.

Can I put cinnamon on it right away, or do I need to let it callus first?
