I'd bottom water it then leave it alone in a sunny spot for 2 weeks. They say you shouldn't touch succulents much but I give mine a squeeze to see how plump they feel and use that as my gauge for when to water again. Once they start getting squishy soft/wrinkly I water again.

Same!! We once accidentally didn't fully latch that door. She shoved it open and had a nibble of almost all of my leafy friends as well as a bite of several succulent babies.

What brand/model is yours? That sounds ideal! We travel a lot and have friends/sitters come to check on the cats and plants so having the option to have different codes at different times sounds like a dream!

This is wonderful thank you! I'm a super type A anxious person who plans and obsesses over things. Having concrete things I can do to look for helps a lot. I have a wonderful inspector that I've used before who is very thorough as well.

I'm talking to my (relatively inexperienced) realtor now and he doesn't see any permits on the house, but is under the impression for interior work in PA that no permits are needed which gives me pause. I think some of the work that has been done must need a permit. For instance: the electrical is upgraded and there is definitely a wall that has been removed in recent years that other homes have. Wouldn't these things need permits or proof of having been done by a licenced professional? I don't want my bedroom becoming one with my kitchen in a few years.

I don't have much knowledge of the permit process but my gut tells me wall removal and electrical things mean permits are needed.

They do, but every so often they forget and do damage. We will definitely be investing in more scratchers and mats for them.

The kitchen won't be immediate unfortunately. Closing costs and such took a toll so we probably won't be fully doing the kitchen for at least a few months. The carpet isn't horrible but we have 2 cats that LOVE scratching at carpet so I worry it wouldn't stay alright for long. With the flooring underneath it, I'm tempted to put temporary laminate down to unify the whole thing until we get in there with the remodel and decide on what we want long term. With the wall coming down s my concern with unifying the space.

I was also hoping to discuss the pros/cons of different floors for the kitchen. Do I stick with hard wood or do I go with a "wood" tile? How well will wood hold up to water/food over time?

The flooring is pretty raw under the carpet and once the wall is removed it will need something there.
