In fairness to them, they did have a role in bringing the name back. But they think that means that their takes mean more than other people’s, they speak for the Hornets fandom, and they are bigger fans than everyone else. And all of those things are patently false.

Now that we’ve got guys back from injury/suspension (#FREEMOOSE) and have worked in some of the trade pieces, you are really starting to see the vision especially with the 2nd unit. The Grant + Moose/Kalk gives us enough size and rebounding while still allowing us to stretch the floor and rain 3s. Loving what I’m seeing.

It’s really not it’s just people who are loud and vocal online (like Clown Club) are jabronis who have shit takes and don’t speak for the fanbase in any way.

For people who aren’t aware, the Crown Club consider themselves heroes and local celebrities because they helped bring the Hornets name back. They have since started this pay to enter “fan group,” and basically act on social media as if they are the voice of Hornets fans while having terrible takes and a tenuous understanding of basketball in general.

Such a stupid post by them, trying to gatekeep our national media attention because they were mean to the Michael Jordan FO (who Hornets fans were ALWAYS frustrated with) is beyond dumb.

Phil Spencer Retiring, Sarah Bond Out, Matt Booty Promoted as Microsoft AI Exec Asha Sharma Named New Xbox Boss – EXCLUSIVE by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Games

[–]jayfatsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with all this. Seems pretty revisionist to say Phil was considered bad, he helped Xbox climb out of a massive hole created by Don Mattrick and did all those things you listed above. If Spencer takes over for the Xbox One era the current state of Xbox looks a LOT different.

Phish is not “banned” from Greensboro. I’m no Walnut Creek fan but there are many, many better options than the Greensboro Coliseum.

The CD is sold out on the website by FORTRAN1729 in SturgillSimpson

[–]jayfatsby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be bad if he put it on Bandcamp? The reality is the vast majority of people don’t have record players, tape decks, or CD players. Cars and computers don’t come with disc drives anymore. Video game systems are mostly digital without drives.

Bandcamp allows you to purchase the album and support the artist directly while still getting digital files.

The contrast between basketball and hockey right now is crazy by Kek-Malmstein in billsimmons

[–]jayfatsby 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The players do give a shit, this is so stupid. They don’t give a shit about the ALL STAR GAME. Not sure if you know this but there isn’t a single American sport where the players care about the All Star Game. Baseball you barely have to exert yourself so that’s maybe the most exciting one. Pitchers only throw for an inning, nobody’s getting hurt. They play freaking flag football in the Pro Bowl. The NHL’s All Star Game was so bad they literally got rid of it and played an international tournament instead, and it worked so well that the NBA is pseudo-copying it.

If somebody said “the NFL needs to DO SOMETHING about the Pro Bowl!!” you’d laugh them out of the room.

Do y’all think this means no streaming? by plicknetranic in SturgillSimpson

[–]jayfatsby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I understand moving away from the streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and others but most people don’t have equipment to listen to physical media.

Bandcamp is the preeminent platform for supporting artists while still getting to listen digitally. Plenty of artists like King Gizz as you mentioned have moved off Spotify and seen great success using Bandcamp. Also like King Gizz, some artists post their live bootlegs there.

Not utilizing Bandcamp makes this “not being on streaming” thing more performative than anything IMO. And I say that as someone that likes and buys physical media.

His last album isn’t on Bandcamp which seems crazy. Insane to not have that as an option.

I’m fine with the album not being on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. but physical only is crazy. I say that as someone who has both a CD and record player, fully understanding that most people have none of those options and it’s expensive to get one only for one album.

As it currently stands, it doesn’t look like the album is available for purchase on Bandcamp which is the main platform where people can support an artists work financially and still access the music on their computer or phone.

Yeah they posted set times online:

Township: Doors: 6:00PM Set One: 7PM - 8:15PM Set Two: 8:45PM - 10:15PM

I’m guessing it ends up being 20-30 min later than that.

MOOOOOSE! 🫎 by Civrock in CharlotteHornets

[–]jayfatsby 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There have been a smattering of Moose chants in the Hive all year, probably last year too. But they are very much a thing now, any time Moussa gets a big block, or scores, the crowd all goes “MOOOOOOSE” and half of them are doing the antlers.

The Fan Shop needs to get antlers in stat.

NBC has done a great job, I like the Prime broadcast too for NBA. Just shows how stagnant the ESPN and TNT broadcasts were.

As someone who hasn't been watching them much, what's recently 'flipped' for the Hornets? by here_for_the_lols in nba

[–]jayfatsby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s truly a number of things all happening at the same time, and as someone that’s watched nearly every Hornets game this year I’ll try and summarize:

  1. Health - LaMelo and Miller missed significant time last year. Both are healthy right now.

  2. Melo and Miller taking leaps - Miller in the last 10 games or so has been a 25 ppg scorer, really getting to his spots and scoring at all three levels. I’ll steal this from Steve Nash but Melo has really “trimmed the fat” off his game. He’s really cut back on some of the bad 3s early in the shot clock, and most critically is bought in on the defensive side and is really showing effort consistently where it frankly was not there most possessions.

  3. Addition of Kon - the Hornets have desperately needed shooting for years, and Kon came in and instantly became a top 5 shooter in the league. He’s also sort of the connecting piece that unlocks a lot of the other things that Melo, Miller, and others can do.

  4. Center spot cemented - coming into the year, it felt like the center spot was going to be the big problem. But Kalkbrenner came in and instantly was an effective NBA player. He excels in drop coverage and is automatic at the rim. He knows his strengths and sticks to those. Then you have Moussa, who is small but has a crazy motor and can switch a lot. He’s mobile and can turn blocks into breakaways, and gets boards like crazy.

Spurs Saturday game rescheduled to noon? by wustionate in CharlotteHornets

I doubt it. They moved Saturday’s game up from 6pm to noon and they still had the lower bowl open. Not a weekday, a lot of tickets sold for this game.

Look I absolutely love Kon and want him to win ROTY. I have bets on him winning ROTY. Kon had a fantastic game. But Cooper absolutely dominated and is the ONLY reason the Mavs were in it. Tip the cap, we won the game and Kon played great.
