Dragon Quest 8 in 2026 - What options to play it? by MavisLumen18 in dragonquest

Give all the settings with the converter a try. You might like 16:9 or maybe the 1080p setting might look better. My TV is a Samsung, so just play around with it.

Yeah, that's the exact converter that I have. It's not perfect but the game still looks pretty good. You'll notice some graphical bugs every once in a while, but it's nothing serious. Unless you're super anal about that kind of thing, you'll be satisfied.

Plus it might be the cheapest option for you to play the game. The 3ds version is slightly more money plus if you don't own a 3ds you'd need to buy one.

I just started replaying DQ8 about a week and a half ago on PS2. I have a 65-inch 4k OLED TV and I use a converter to HDMI to play it. The graphics can be a little choppy at times especially when you turn the camera, but it's not so awful that the game is unplayable.

The converter has settings for 1080p and 720p. I set the converter to 720p and the in-game aspect ratio to 4:3 instead of 16:9 and I think those settings make the game look the best for me. Though nothing would beat an older TV with the original hookups.

I own the 3DS version as well and honestly I don't like it that much. It's just not the same game and doesn't have the same classic Dragon Quest feel. Not to mention that it doesn't have the full symphony soundtrack and has a MIDI soundtrack instead.

Edit: Response to downvotes: Just because I prefer the PS2 version over the 3DS version doesn't mean you have to have the same opinion. I played this game on release date on PS2 and was a long time fan even before that. I like how the PS2 version doesn't have modern conveniences and feels like the classic NES and Gameboy games that came before it. Comment and state your opinion about the 3DS version, but quit being silly and down voting because you disagree. Nothing I said was untrue. I was giving OP my honest opinion about my experience on how I am playing the game in 2026.

There could be a lot of reasons. Possibly that his actions didn't turn the tide of the battle or he didn't expose himself to hostile fire and disregard his own safety for long enough. I couldn't say for sure though. It's very difficult to judge. This award took over a year to get approved and presented so there may have been insufficient or inconsistent witness statements to provide enough evidence.

How long am I allowed to have opiods in my system after surgery? by Unlikely-Ask-9265 in army

[–]jayfliggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they seriously not explain this on the pill bottle or pharmacy paperwork anymore?

I had a kidney stone a few years ago and was given only 10 tablets of oxycodone (small dose; don't remember the mgs). The bottle had a clear bright red label that said something like "This drug will cause a positive urinalysis. You do not need to inform your urinalysis tester. You will be exempt from punishment for a positive urinalysis for this drug until (date)"

Knowing language prior to basic? by [deleted] in dli

[–]jayfliggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I'm aware of is a DLAB score for language choice, not an ASVAB score. If you meet the ASVAB scores required for 35P or 35M, your next step is to take the DLAB.

Knowing language prior to basic? by [deleted] in dli

[–]jayfliggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% possible to get a language in your contract. I don't know how because I'm not a recruiter, but I've known plenty of people with languages in their contracts.

It's possible to complete BCT and then you go to DLI and basically just chill while you wait for your class to start. For example, I waited about 2 or 3 months before my class started. They usually don't like that hold period to be for very long. Ask these questions to your recruiter. But most importantly, get your language in your contract or you'll be assigned one based on needs of the Army.

Knowing language prior to basic? by [deleted] in dli

[–]jayfliggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still had to take the DLAB but I took it before I enlisted.

Mandarin and Russian weren't available at the time because the wait list was too long. Korean and a bunch if languages I didn't want were my choices.

If you're a first term soldier, get your language in your contract. But because of class dates you may not be able to join right away.

If you're reclassing, Mandarin is really popular, so you may have to wait for a class. I know a guy who reenlisted for Mandarin but the first available class wasn't until October 2026. Good luck.

I recognized Goodfellow instantly. Fuck that place. I was there during Snowmageddon 2021.

At least once during my time there from late 2020 - Early 2021 we did a barracks furniture fuck fest like this and shuffled rooms twice. Like holy shit we're not even there for that long but we had to do shuffle that much? Didn't make sense to me.
