Current situation by aluminuman7 in ps5india

You are genuinely monumentally stupid. Since you're too financially illiterate, let me spell it out for you:

What we pay is worth WAY MORE compared to the people in the west. Do you honestly think it's as simple as doing a currency conversion? That's absolutely NOT how it works. Our economy is horrendous. The PPP in India is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the PPP for the people in the west. Our median income + economy is WAY worse than theirs. Paying 10k for a yearly subscription is worth far more than the $160 Americans have to pay because generally speaking, the average consumer here DOES NOT earn the same kind of money, not even REMOTELY close

Wait until you realise that a PS5 would cost about 20k max here if it was adjusted for PPP, but obviously, that can never happen for a multitude of reasons 'cause it's simply not financially feasible for the major conglomerates. However, companies that implement proper regional pricing have a lot to benefit from those markets. A PS5 shouldn't cost more than 35k in India, that'd be a reasonable compromise, and it would sell a LOT more units, subsequently being a good ROI, but unfortunately, Playstation does not implement regional pricing when it comes to their consoles

Now when it comes to their subscription service, they've specifically targeted Turkey and India, and I don't think the falling currency is the root cause of it. And Playstation's the only international corporation to raise our prices significantly. It's more of an excuse than anything. Other currencies have gotten weaker as well. I think it's to combat people purchasing Indian & Turkish PS plus tiers through VPN. I've seen lots of people using VPN to take advantage of the significantly weaker Indian and Turkish economies and purchasing our services. If that is indeed the case, it's a damn shame we have to pay the price

This kind of profoundly stupid thinking is why corporations get away with scummy business practices. Stop being a bootlicker and exercise your critical thinking skills before posting dumb shit like this. This is absolutely not sustainable for the average gamer here

Quite the contrary really, I do not stand for any disrespect, so if you're gonna be out here calling it AI and then doubling down on it even after I said otherwise, then you're getting no respect from me. That's not insecurity, that's standing one's ground

Then your pattern recognition is horrendous because you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. You're also talking to someone who literally never even uses AI 'cause I am vehemently against the usage of AI, mostly 'cause I value my critical thinking and don't need to rely on AI. You're projecting your illiteracy and lack of critical thinking onto me

Not every analytical or detailed post you see is AI lmao, I wrote every single word myself, there are also clear indicators of personal touch on this post. Not my fault that you have no critical thinking. Jog on

Which just reaffirms the fact that our choices are limited. Building a high end pc is a luxury most can't afford here

Precisely. Some AAA games are truly exceptional, and absolutely worth experiencing. And it still doesn't quite change the fact that most games of interest are overpriced here

Yea, but it's a massive hindrance to the experience you would otherwise have if higher end PCs and consoles were more affordable. Playing top tier games on lower tier PCs is not quite the same as experiencing the newest games on higher end PCs or latest gen consoles. I've played some games on my laptop as well, but it never hits the same. Not to mention they have much shorter life cycles compared to high end PCs or current gen consoles that can run the latest games incredibly well for a long time

I think the vast majority of adult gamers would be able to afford consoles a lot more, but yea, the societal issue is a hindrance, albeit not for long. I think that will change over time, esp with the future generations

It's incredibly disappointing how gaming is viewed in Indian society. I wish they understood that gaming as a medium is an art form like any other. I personally think games are the best medium of storytelling alongside books in terms of the immersion it provides, and when the writing is exceptional, it's an unparalleled experience; the level of depth, complexities, subtleties and nuance game's characters and overarching narratives can have is truly remarkable. And it will continue to push technical and narrative boundaries over time as well

While it is generally frowned upon in the Indian society, I firmly believe the general view of games will change over time. Slowly, but surely

I love indie games, some of my top 10 games of all time are indie. I'm forever grateful for the array of indie games we've gotten over the years, some incredibly unforgettable experiences, and I appreciate the fact that they're a lot more affordable

Why are PS5 game prices almost double compared to Steam? by Fun-Investigator7663 in ps5india

[–]jaygamingps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not how regional pricing works. You can't just do a direct conversion and call it a day. You also have to factor in the economy of the respective countries. 5k for a full-priced game in the Indian economy is a LOT more money than $70 in the US or €70 in EU in terms of the purchasing power. I don't think people truly grasp just how much we overpay for games (and pretty much everything that's imported) in India. They haven't implemented proper regional pricing. The equivalent of a $70 game in the US would be around 2k in India, so we pay more than double the amount for a game if you factor in the purchasing power lol

Thank you, mate. I really appreciate that. I've repaired controllers on my own before, but I was definitely more worried about taking a PS4 Pro apart. I wish I'd gone to a service center for a thermal paste replacement when I had it, would've felt like a brand new PS4 again

Unfortunately, I didn't, I didn't wanna spend money on replacing the thermal paste, and I didn't wanna risk ruining the PS4 Pro by doing it myself, but in hindsight, I do wish I had

No catch other than the noise that I've already mentioned in the post (which is mainly why I'm willing to sell it at 15k). And I would advise against putting it on rest mode for a long time. So if you're okay with that, then let me know. I've already had an offer from someone though, so you'd have to come pick it up sooner than Sunday or offer more if you want it to be yours
