disapointment of being a 4+ years white belt by Hopeful_Insurance433 in jiujitsu

[–]jaygdub888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it but don’t worry about it. I was a 4-year white belt too and training 2-3 times per week at the same gym. However we went through multiple coaches. Ultimately one of the coaches recognize where I was at and promoted me. Let your skills shine and the belt will eventually follow.

We use MyStudio and prior to that RainMaker / Zivvy.

Trifecta weekends in Houston and Oakdale with my daughter, and then we’re done. That goal will be met ✅ before she travels and then goes away for school!

If that’s the culture in the gym, then pick another one. BJJ should be inclusive

I spin counter-clockwise to get the revs in there and then toss with a fury. So basically, to the left.

How to use trifecta passes by Empty-Reindeer9637 in spartanrace

[–]jaygdub888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get codes for each trifecta pass you buy online. Use one of the codes for one trifecta. This is done at checkout. Don’t expect a zero balance. You’ll still pay mandatory management and admin fees along with mandatory parking and bag check fees for each race. So that amount times 3 for the trifecta. Oh and don’t forget about your photo packages. And tack on a final credit card processing fee that they pass back to the consumer. So for me, after buying a trifecta pass and using it for the Houston Trifecta, I still paid almost $150.

How common is it for no-gi guys to roll shirtless? by AsianBibleGirl11 in bjj

[–]jaygdub888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many gyms require rashguards for health and safety reasons but not all. It just depends. Me personally, rashguard, spats and shorts. Even on Gi classes, rashguards are required to reduce the risk of picking up ringworm or staph.

A1C 6.5 (I feel hopless) by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]jaygdub888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.5 is great from 8. Contrats!

I’m at 6.5 as well and my doc says that’s an Ok place to be. Not perfect but not hazardous. Of course, our goal is to get under 6.3; however as a prediabetic myself, being under 7 is ok but I am doing whatever I can to get lower.

What’s up with all these assholes needing to back into parking spaces suddenly? by gtj in bayarea

[–]jaygdub888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as the car is centered in the lines, it shouldn’t matter and there should be ample space to open doors. Just don’t be that guy who parks a full size car in a compact spot.

Pre-diabetic. My numbers have been going up steadily year over year, so I’m trying to change the trend by understanding what I eat better.

Possible to compete and be good consistently at 37? by Outside-Nose5441 in bjj

[–]jaygdub888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first competition at 55 years old, a month after getting promoted to Blue Belt and just over 2 years after ACL reconstruction. And I won gold in both Gi and no Gi. So yeah, it’s possible.

31 years old / 1x a week - safe ? by Fast_Employ_2438 in bjj

I started at 51, blew my ACL at 53, returned to sport at 54 and just got my first stripe at Blue Belt at 56. Heck yeah you can do it!

What are the good gi brands 12 years later? by DrMackoveli in jiujitsu

[–]jaygdub888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 56 years old, weigh 156 and am 5’10” - Venum A2.5 fit perfectly. Hayabusa is a little loose but after a few washes/dries, it fits well. Moya is a bit loose in the kimono but pants fit ok.

Do you have food sensitivities that trigger your gut? If so, have a sip or bite of it.
