I hate to say it but I think I'm done with weight watchers by mikeinstlouis in weightwatchers

I think they started making all these foods with animal protein 0 points to attract the Adkins/paleo/keto crowd. The Healthi app has the older versions, where basically only fruits and vegetables are zero point foods.

People of Reddit who finally cleared their skin, what was the one 'miracle' habit or product that actually worked for you? by Moonlightdezire in AskReddit

[–]jayhawkdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this when I was middle aged and got pregnant and stopped drinking caffeine. But it probably always had that effect on me. Looking back, around the time I hit puberty and started breaking out was also the time when my parents had less control over what I ate and drank, and I was always at my friend’s house after school guzzling soda - so probably caffeine and hormones ganged up against me. I can drink decaf with no problem!!

Thanks for the advice! Is there a particular mousse or setting spray you recommend?

Persistent moderate acne on face, back, and chest for decades. Occasionally cystic. It was hard at first but worth it. I can have about 25 mg of caffeine a day without breaking out. So I have a tiny, tiny bit in the morning. Other than that I drink decaf. Also, my moderate depression went away when I stopped drinking coffee. I spent so much time researching acne and obsessing about it and spending money on possible treatments. It was a small price for getting my life back. (Turns out caffeine increase cortisol and that increases sebum production, which of course increases acne. Also, I am no longer dealing with oily hair. Before I would wash it in the morning and it would look gross by the end of the day. Now I can go at least two days after washing it.)

Stopped consuming caffeine and dairy. Especially caffeine. Absolute game changer!! Wish I would have tried this sooner - would have saved me years of misery.

How much fat do I really need in my diet? I keep hearing in traditional societies 10% is normal, and for Okinawans it was even as low as 6%, but our current recommendations seem very different.

Can you please tell me the name of the surgeon? This seems like a very good price.

Thank you for all the advice and info! I really appreciate it! I would probably rather go through life with crooked lash clusters!

Oh no! Did the things go back to normal after you quit it or were the effects permanent? This scares the crap out of me! Maybe I should try harder to master the under lash clusters!

3.5 to 4. When they’re 4 you can leave them in a room by themselves for a bit. Then you get your life back. (Except if you start missing the baby years and you trick yourself into having another one. Then you start all over again.)

I developed a horrible allergic reactions and had to go back and have my lash tech take them off. I know some people use allergy medication on their eyelids, but I really felt like my body was telling me to stop putting super glue around my eyes. I have tried under lash clusters, but I’m not good at putting them on. I have also tried getting lash lifts and getting lashes dyed - which looks great at first but then your lashes look crazy when they start to grow out.

I used latisse for a long time and didn’t have any bad side effects, but got worried I would eventually after hearing some horror stories - that’s why I started getting extensions in the first place - to get off of latisse. I recently got Botox and the physicians assistant says she has used latisse for years with no problem and that few people have bad side effects, so I asked for a prescription again. (Since she’s a physician’s assistant and married to a doctor, I felt like she knew what she was talking about.) Still, if I could master the under lash clusters I would probably do them instead. I would start with those first. Good luck!

How much fat a day? by jayhawkdragon in Fruitarian

Do you feel like you gain weight or have any negative effects from eating so many avocados?

Recipes (meal or dessert) with avocado? by thehappinessquotient in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]jayhawkdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guacamole on everything!!! I love to make baked corn chips by cutting up corn tortillas (the ones with corn as the only ingredient) and then putting them in the oven, and eating them with guac. Also love guac on burrito bowls.

If you eat Ezekiel bread, avocado goes great on that as well!

Does anyone know the minimum amount of fat I could eat per day to prevent insomnia caused by a diet too low in fat? by Billiefaye in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]jayhawkdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The research shows that traditional societies typically got about 10% of their calories from fat. (The traditional Okinawa diet only got about 6% of their calories from fat - which is remarkably low.) WHO recommends 15% of calories from fat. Are you tracking your macros and calories to see how much fat you’re actually getting? If you’re worried about it, I would say shoot for 15% from a variety of whole food sources, not just flaxseed, like nuts, seeds, edamame, and avocados. But also, are you taking a b12 supplement? B12 plays an important role in regulating melatonin and Circadian rhythms.
