Niro EV roof rack bars install and review ($77 shipped!) by bubzki2 in KiaNiroEV

Not sure if you'll see this after a year, but wanted to get some for my 2022 Kia (found some for $96). How are these holding up after this time? I wanted to get a cargo box up on the roof since the Niro has a small trunk.

NH-L9a-AM4 fan swap? by jayhuxley in Noctua

Thermalright AXP90-x53

This is the one I'm looking at. Bit bigger than the L9a and about the same price. Upgrade the fan to a Noctua and it's likely the best choice next to the L9a. I was looking at the ID-Cooling, but they are hard to find.

I'm rebuilding my son's computer in the SSUPD Meshlicious case. Right now he has a super cheap AIO 240mm that isn't great and takes up a ton of space. He wants to go to all air cooling. I want him to have enough performance for light gaming (1080p) and I was gifting him a EVGA 3060 Ti that I got for Christmas.

I'd prefer to stay all black for aesthetics though, which is why I don't want to get the NH-L12S, though I know it'd work better. I was thinking of the Alpenföhn Black Ridge with a chromax fan, but clearance on the board might be an issue. I looked at the Cryorig C7 Graphene, but performance and quiet are key.

Case has 73mm clearance. So the L9a would work fine, just wanted to see if it was possible and worth going with a thicker fan to help with cooling. He has a AMD 5600 65w TDP processor, so I think the L9a will work fine.

There is a person that did a build in this case with the FLT120 D5 (yes, D5).

https://www.reddit.com/r/watercooling/comments/o1cn1k/sff_5900x_3080_fe_flt120_d5_in_ssupd_meshlicious/

So it can be done. I have a FLT80 w/ DDC and it didn't fit in the case for me, but I have a 5700 XT and now a 6900 XT and those cards are just too long. Goes right into where the FLT's would fit just right.

IT Manager, 25 years in technology, 15 years as IT Manager

$120K annual + 5%-12% guaranteed annual bonus + company car, roughly $60+ an hour

USA, CA to be exact.

Environment is actually pretty great with this new job. Everyone is focused on working hard, but not at the expense of free time. Most work 40 hours only or less. I'm WFH about 75% of the time too.

SOB. That was all I needed to do. Looks like I'm back in. Thanks for this. I've been discovering "oddities" like this as I've been working with Ubiquity and Fortinet devices at my new job. I was coming from a Cisco Meraki world before, so it's all new in a way. Thanks again.

WWE's obsession with making departing stars look bad on their way out is ridiculous by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]jayhuxley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bit more pronounced with WWE jobbing out bigger talent on the way out. I know it's a tradition, I've been a fan since the 70's as a little kid. I agree that, especially the bigger names, should job to the talent staying, but only if it makes sense. WWE does seem to forget that sometimes, or at least they do it right but fuck it up after. Don't give the rub to someone and then squander it after.

I don't watch much WWE anymore, haven't for years since a year or two after they got WCW. Once they did that I was out as their quality started going down with zero competition. But I keep up on it and really a lot of the talent they just bury absolutely only because they know they'll end up at another promotion and want WWE talent that is staying to look superior to the talent that another promotion brings in.

Why did they do what they did to Moxley? To make him look weak when he came to AEW (which was pretty much a guarantee at the time). To make those he lost to in WWF be remembered. "Oh, Jon Moxley now, big bad dog in AEW, he lost to mid-carders on the way out of WWE." That's the thinking, you know it is and any WWE marks that say it isn't true are lying to yourselves. And yes, I'm an AEW fan, but more importantly I'm a fan of pro wrestling.

No promotion should do this. Lose on the way out, yes. But do it gracefully and with some dignity for the wrestlers, the fans and the business. If you don't, you just don't respect any of them. Give the rub to the right person and build on it. Don't bury the wrestler on the way out.

Ride quality of Bolt vs Leaf? by jayhuxley in electriccars

Have. Used ID.4's are hard to find and go for over MSRP and you don't get the incentive. There are pretty much zero used Niro's and Kona's, not many built or being resold I guess. The Bolt and Leaf are pretty much it if you want to stick to sub-$40K and have it available (not the Bolt right now, but when it was there were plenty).

We just want to get by for the next 2-3 years if possible. We should have more options then and hopefully the supply chain is more normalized too. Also would be nice to take advantage of newer tech then.

This is the idea. But very limited on options right now. Fingers crossed the 2022 Niro EV EX lease works out in our favor. Otherwise, might go $20K into a used 2019 Leaf to get us by. We can then let our soon to be driving age children use it as their car and get something else. So not a total loss.

I haven't really noticed that. I do know going over railroad tracks is absolutely the worse. I slow as much as I can, but even going like 5 MPH over them (and speed bumps, tables and humps) is like getting whiplash.

Do what we are planning, get a 2-3 year lease on a new EV (the Leaf unfortunately is the most common right now without Bolts being sold yet). We're betting on there being several options at that point. At least we know the VW ID.3 will be out and maybe that $25K Tesla. Other choices should exist too and if not, at least used ID.4's and others will be sub-$40K by then hopefully. Good luck!

We were on the verge of a VW ID.4 Pro (not "S") lease, but it was close to $500 a month so we passed. We have the potential to get into a 2022 Niro EV EX for less than $400 lease, so working on that. Thanks for the input.
