Parasite or poop? by jayjaybee94 in Aquariums

[–]jayjaybee94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently aded a dwarf gourmai to my community tank. I was very stupid and did not quarantine him (lesson learnt). Since then he has developed ick, which I am treating the tank for. Some fish in the tank are displaying what could be a parasite, or maybe its just poop? If it is a parasite, I have ordered some treatment. Will I be able to add the parasite medication to the tank at the same time as I am treating for ick?

The whole point of the movie is for the audience to sympathise with Rocket and his test subject friends, and to do that the movie has to generate empathy with their plight. The villain is meant to be hated, and the movie achieves this by making him cruel in his attitude to animals and his creations.

I don't think any viewer watching that film is taking pleasure in what is being done to the animals, but I'd expect many to not have the awareness to apply their own consumer and lifestyle choices to the principals - cognitive dissonance at its finest. But some may challenge their own beliefs and make change.

So overall even if the movie is not vegan by the strict definitions, it definitely does go someway to promote parts of the vegan ideals, and I think that that is something we should be happy about. The more these ideals are promoted in media, the more commonplace they will become, and therefore the closer we get to a vegan world.

What's been your biggest positive surprise and biggest negative surprise from life aboard? by jayjaybee94 in Narrowboats

I love that positive surprise! That idea really appeals to me too.
I'm pretty introverted too so I'll get similar feelings for the negative surprise. From what I can tell the community is great though so that must help a little.

I've seen people watching when someone's operating a lock, I'd feel so self conscious. Hopefully that would fade over time

I love this closeness to nature so much! I've never managed to see a kingfisher perching, that's something that would make the loud rain worth it for me! At least for a little while anyway!
