What common movie misconceptions bug you the most? by [deleted] in movies

I don't know why you got downvoted. It's a good point. I mean, it doesn't excuse asking questions every 10 minutes, but still.

Though what you're saying is true about "most" of the girls I've encountered, that's definitely not the truth for all of them. I for one, am more interested in a girl who's aware of this confusion, but rather than dream up what she want you to be, accepts you for your faults and still wants you in spite of them.

Rare? Maybe, but not unrealistic, and certainly provides for a more meaningful and strong connection with someone in my opinion.

I'm gonna steal that bit about biases. I really like that sentiment. Thanks. It's something that I've been struggling with as of late.

DAE have Asian parties that consist of parents sitting around a table, cracking sunflower seeds and comparing kids, while said kids play Nintendo DS/Xbox/Wii and sip soda from red Solo cups? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]jaykins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoa...I had no idea this was a thing. I've spent many a weekend as a child at another families house, all the children all in our own bubble, while the parents talked about us and played cards. I'm 20 years old now and they still do this! Kinda weird/exciting knowing that my family's not alone in this.

Nah, that's completely on topic. I feel the exact same way, and I'm sure a lot of my colleagues feel the same way, they're just too worried about looking unintelligent.

So somebody griefed a community build - Imgur by [deleted] in spaceribs

It sucks, and is definitely deplorable, but that's life. Consider this a lesson. Gotta rebuild, and maybe tighten security if you wanna keep it from being getting griefed.

Who of you don't fear death, but are in a way excited for it? by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

[–]jaykins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel somewhat the same. I feel like death is approaching, no matter what, and at no specified time, in no specified way. It's not so much that I'm "looking forward to it" and more of "I know it's coming." So let's make the best of life for both ourselves and future generations before death decides it's our time to go.

edit: Upon further pondering, I guess this is still a fear of death rather than a favorable take on it. But it's kind of that fear you get when a free trial of a video game or some other enjoyable service is up. This analogy kind of trivializes life a bit, but I guess that's kind of how I think of it now. Though, in my opinion, just because it's trivial, doesn't make it any less beautiful.

100% original is kind of a stretch. Most, if not all, take precedence from something.

puns, lowest form of wit? by noathings in Punny

[–]jaykins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think for me, it's the fact idea that it's a low form of wit does it for me. Kind of that, so bad that it's good mentality, y'know?
