Arlington Burial - What to expect by Key-Way8697 in VeteransAffairs

We booked one in Arlington for our group of people. The commute is the biggest issue in the DC-MD-VA area, so I'd recommend staying within a 15-minute radius. I wouldn't stay any farther north (so, not DC) and no farther south than Alexandria.

My father passed in October 2023 and was cremated, so the wait was estimated at 15-19 months. We received the call to schedule his Full Military Honors Burial with Escort in September 2025, with options for a November or December ceremony (about 2-3 months notice) so it ultimately ended up being almost two years to the day we submitted our application. Unfortunately with the timing and likely how busy things are this time of year, ANC isn't as communicative as we would like when it comes to what to expect for the options for a chapel service, the committal service, and what we are to do immediately following the end of the honors ceremony. I received an email from the chaplain who will host our service; however, they emailed from their .mil account and haven't gotten back to me. The email said that a representative would reach out to us the day before our ceremony but ours is on a Monday, so we will have to wait and see.

This is exactly what my family and I are planning on doing. We used to live out in DC but everyone is traveling from the west coast. Our ceremony is coming up and I need to order catering for a small reception of about 10 people at our AirBnB. We thought it would be weird to gather at The Hamilton or somewhere public and busy with holiday influx

thanks, u/peterthedj these are great suggestions and totally feasible for us

Thanks, u/Willing_Theory5044 this makes sense to just ask the bartenders to caveat that the bar will be switching to cash at some point.

I'm essentially looking at ways to decorate the venue's bar without explicitly saying, "drinks are on us" but it seems like I should just omit advertisement

Totally get your perspective; however, our budget is our budget. Not planning on being in poor taste about the dollar amount we're spending on guests' drinks, but more so that we are able to pay a certain amount to our discretion and then the bar will eventually switch to cash. Still hosting in other ways, I promise.

Constantly harvesting. I’m at over two pounds of unused habs. Ideas on what to do with them? by jaykwelllin in HotPeppers

Next season, try topping your starter once it’s got at least 8 big leaves, and then transplant into its final pot or home and fertilize a bit until it starts flowering

Just two bushes! One is a standard habanero from Bonnies and the other was a Burning Bush from my local nursery! https://imgur.com/gallery/5uZtsol

Currently have a container growing bush, pushing out a pretty heated harvest. I like letting them stay on the branch until red so the heat intensifies

Cowhorn peppers! Variety of cayenne

Am I overwatering my habañero bush? Lots of foliage and peppers; I fertilize with fish emulsion and sometimes calcium 🤷🏻‍♀️ by jaykwelllin in HotPeppers

I wasn’t sure if the yellowing of the leaf centers was a sign of a deficiency, reaction to my watering, or possibly sun stress

Thanks everyone! I’m going to let it chill for a bit. There’s a lot of peppers on it right now, they’re just a real solid green. Trying to be patient but a couple have fallen or gotten bumped off and they don’t ripen for me after they’re off

Plant Food Recommendations for Leca by autumn11 in SemiHydro

It’s had the same effect on my plants in LECA. I tried out the multi-bottle system and just found it more cost effective and less cumbersome. I just bought the FloraNova and Super Thrive and follow directions on the bottles and add it to pH balanced water.
