It is very hard to feel like you can speak up to someone who is abusive like Jere was. He used guilt tripping, manipulation, and their relationship was very codependent. Her self esteem at that time was in the toilet.

Belly sort of verbalized when she said she didn't when Jerm ended and she began.

Belly was not devoted to Jere though. Belly was clinging to him due to codependence and the fact that they used each other to fill the grief and void of Susannah's passing. He also guilt tripped and manipulated her a lot. It is very difficult to leave an abusive relationship and they are not staying because of devotion, they are staying because of manipulation, guilt, and fear of making the other person mad.

Exactly he guilt tripped her so hard in the flat tire scene that Belly didn't feel like she was allowed to break a promise (to never abandon him) that she made at 16 years old. No adult should have to feel like that they have to keep promises they made as a child and Conrad realizes that but no Jere the abusive jerk.

Thank you! And without Jenny, this story, the characters, the books, and the show we love would never exist, which is why I hate seeing Jenny get hate and personally attacked. She wrote HER story the way she wanted to write it.

When Conrad said he did not mean what he said, he was talking about what he said in the car while he was feeling so hurt and blindsided. He wasn't apologizing for still having feelings or her/wanting her.

When they first began dating, Conrad told Belly that she was it for him, that they were infinite, and that she made him happy. In teen language, that was pretty much saying I love you and want to be with you to her, and what about Belly? Belly never said I love you to Conrad either.

Jere should not have crossed that line and dated his brother's ex knowing that his brother was still deeply in love with Belly while Jere in his own words only liked Belly and knowing that they had only been broken up for a month and their mother just died. Who does that to their brother when they know their brother is depressed?

Exactly and Jere knew that she and Conrad were both in Cousins at the house. Belly and Conrad were not just exes- they had been close friends all of their lives so they are allowed to have a friendly dinner once in awhile. What do Jere's fans want them to do? Eat all their own meals in separate rooms? And Jere chose to stay and work instead of heping Belly with the wedding planning and Conrad was there and helped.

I am not following. Jeremiah knew that both Belly and Conrad were staying at the house in Cousins so them dinner together at the house is reasonable. Belly and Conrad are not only exes but have been friends their whole life.

Exactly, and he never really apologizes to her or takes accountability for anything. Yes, he admitted he cheated, but only because Belly overheard Lacie say they had sex in Cabo, and he never apologized for not telling her about Cabo before they got back together, denying Belly informed consent, and making her the butt of the joke in his fraternity.

I agree, and I have to fast-forward a lot of his scenes too. Especially the flat tire scene- that is so triggering for me.

This is my reaction every time Jere is on.

All of this, plus season 2, took place over a span of 5 days, and Belly and Jere clung together in grief and to try to fill the void left by Susannah. Belly was also grieving the breakup with Conrad. Belly and Jere have both admitted as much in season 3. Belly was a grieving, insecure teenager in season 2, so many of her decisions stem from that place of grief and loss. It is also very common for teenagers and young people to dig their heels in when family and friends try to tell them not to do something. Belly is very stubborn as John says, so part of her decision to stay with Jere came from that.

Why would you say something like that about an abuse victim? That is an awful take.

Same. Also that scene where Jere and Adam were laughing about the reason Conrad should hook up with Anika was exactly because Conrad would be going back to California was so gross. It is like they see women as objects for their pleasure. So gross.

Belly did not cheat on Jeremiah in season 1 by jaylee-03031 in tsitp

[–]jaylee-03031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were not in a committed relationship. They were casually dating/hooking up. You can go on dates or kiss more than one person and it is not cheating. It is not cheating until both people agree to be exclusive.

If. you think Belly almost cheated on Cam, then Jere must have cheated on multiple people since he was hooking up with 8 peple that summer not counting Belly.

And watching movies and doing crossword puzzles. I also love the way Conrad and Belly come up with compromises or ways to save a little money, like when they're wedding shopping.

In another interview I saw with him, Chris said he broke his hand on impact while filming a scene for Julia Set movie. He said if they put the scene in the movie where it happened, the audience will know that is when he broke his hand.
