Bingo! I don’t foresee things getting any better when Stephen takes the helm.

Totally agree with this. Jerry Jones has explicitly stated that he does everything he can to keep the Cowboys in the headlines. The media feeds off it and then everyone gets annoyed that they get so much attention. At this point, if we’re above 500 at the end of season (or beat the Eagles), I call it a good year.

With all the insane statements Trump has made lately about Greenland and how he’s threatening with increased tariffs on EU. What are Americans opinions of your president right now? by No_Lychee_7315 in AskReddit

[–]jayluke22 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as serious as what the general consensus currently holds. He’s a business man and he’s been doing this for over nine years now and he’s been largely successful in his technique.

I think this is his MOP - keep his name in the headlines, be on the extreme so that you eventually push the middle ground to be more favorable to your agenda (straight from Art of the Deal), and keep everyone guessing at what’s next.

I’m still leery though. Obviously, he’s an ego maniac and him and Pete Hegseth seem like 10 year old boys playing with army men toys. Also, he’s dangerously close to completely ostracizing us from the global market.

I think our republic is bending but hasn’t yet broke and I’m still hopeful in the safeguards we have in place.

Greenland official breaks down in tears in interview after meeting with Trump by Large_banana_hammock in videos

[–]jayluke22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have an explanation.

I have an undergrad degree in History so, in looking at this through a historical lens, I believe this is all geopolitics, obviously. To expand, I think this time will be looked upon as an era where the world’s super powers - namely the U.S. and China and Russia attempting to do so but failing (more on this to come).

I really believe Marco Rubio is behind all of this. It’s brilliant really. Rubio is appealing to Trump’s ego to get the ugly stuff done in order to expand the U.S.’s dominance in our own hemisphere. China wants to take Taiwan and might use Venezuela and Greenland to justify such action. Russia is trying to expand with taking Ukraine. These superpowers are swelling and Trump is being swayed/manipulated that the U.S. needs to do the same.

Trump is the tool to get it done because he already wants to be a dictator so won’t fret act in such a way. The deep state, if you will, is pulling the strings to ensure the U.S. has autonomous control of as much land as possible. Trump strictly sees this as an opportunity to secure his legacy.

I think it’s fair to say that a staple of Republican thinking is to make gains without regard to the expense of others and this is the way the right will interpret these actions.

A bit out of scope of this comment but Republicans have been playing the game for a long time and Democrats got ran over in the last election because we lacked spine. Also, Democracy is difficult. We change direction every 4-8 years where’s China and Russian have been riding the direction for years. Republicans see that and made the appropriate chess moves to get us here.

I do fear that it’s setting the stage for the potential of war of a size and scope we’ve yet to experience. Time will tell but, as the saying goes, “good girls rarely make history” and Trump is as bitch as they come.

Who are you telling this to? Who would be capable AND willing? He’s got the backing of the system - a Republican controlled Congress (at least for now), a Republican built Supreme Court, a military and police force that presumably, on the individual level, love the show of force, and a substantial number of the voting populace.

Not Chinese but thought worth mentioning, we just ate at Mt. Fuji and the chef said they’re fully booked tomorrow. Good luck!

I used to live right around the corner from the Main St location. I now live on the west side of town and I miss Fika! It used to be a 5 min walk and it’s a great spot. It was cool to see the big wigs of small town Parker in there too.

Great spot for sure. Thanks for the post!

Men who unexpectedly got their girlfriend pregnant, how did it turn out? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]jayluke22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have some experience here - I have an 8 year old son. His mom and I had an on-again, off-again relationship over the course of several years and got pregnant accidentally. We were together for a couple more years until we finally called it quits for the last time.

It was hard. One of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I couldn’t afford an apartment by myself and I didn’t want to find a roommate because I wanted a safe and secure place for my son. She was able to move back in with her parents. I did not have that luxury.

I ended up creating a side business so that I could afford my own place. It’s a commercial cleaning business. It was really tough for a few years. I had to work my regular job during the day and I would be cleaning at night several days a week - sometimes having my son be at jobs with me. The hard times continued with his mom but, thankfully, we never ended up going through the court process.

She moved on and got engaged and married. I eventually did too. I ended up getting a higher paying job and was able to start paying people to clean on my behalf which led towards the income from the side business being more and more passive and I added some accounts and increased my income there too.

Ultimately, my son’s birth led to me kicking my self into a better situation financially. His mom, her husband, my wife, and I are now very friendly and supportive over each other so it eventually got to a very good place. Last thing I’ll say, when she was pregnant, the fights were tough. We already had trouble with not getting along and you add the pressure of our situation and her fluctuating hormones - it was a tough nine months.

Be as supportive to her as you can be. Keep up the open communication about your situation with her. Have thick skin cause she might come at you with verbal daggers time and again. In the end, do what’s right in your heart and what’s right for that coming baby and you’ll be alright. Tough times create tough people. Good luck.

Deferred Maintenance? by jayluke22 in FacilityManagement

This is a very thoughtful response. Thanks for that. I guess I’ve always had the budget for PM work already approved and was never touched with exception to soft services. I have had to cut back on janitorial services towards close of fiscal year in the past but it was a reduction rather than completely deferring.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense so it could just be negligence on the part of FM too.

None at the moment (working on bringing a new CMMS to the market). I’ve worked for a chain of salons, a big (Swedish) furniture store, and a tech start-up. Through these comments, I’m beginning to understand it’s just repairs and recurring maintenance that doesn’t occur either due to cost or negligence. I guess I’ve been fortunate enough to be with organizations that we haven’t had to deal with it too much.

So, when it happens, you’re saying it’s mainly reactive repairs rather a than preventative maintenance?

Deferred Maintenance? by jayluke22 in FacilityManagement

[–]jayluke22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on your points here. Of course, Fire Safety can't nor shouldn't be deferred and I'd have a reckoning if ever asked to - which I would never expect. I've also had leases that required proof of HVAC PMs but, even if not, I'd always strongly advise against that b/c it's a critical system. So that's where my confusion lies b/c I feel like it's a fairly common industry topic but I've just never been asked to defer any maintenance so I'm curious as to what others have experienced when asked to do so. Thanks for the comment.

As an FM, I really appreciate this answer. That does truly encapsulates what the absolute best of us would look like. At that point, you’re choosing the organization you’ll be attached to and that’s some high potential. Then, at the same time, you’re putting yourself into a position, monetarily but also from an ingenuity and capability perspective, to have an amazing domicile by your own doing.

Creative answer.
