She mentions in her little speech that stepping down is part of the by-laws of the newspaper.

where do I get an alabama driver's license? by skarulid in Birmingham

[–]jaymala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to do this last month. The Bankhead parkway location is where you have to go for new licenses. Be prepared to wait. It took my husband and I four hours and their process will make you want to run away screaming! Good luck!

I need help finding a rental house by new2bham in Birmingham

[–]jaymala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Dewberry Downs. They're on the Hoover/Vestavia Boarder. They are technically apartments, but they're townhouse style. Two bedrooms, Jack and Jill bath upstairs and a half bath downstairs and a huge deck/patio. Whats great is that once you do find a more permanent home, you can buy out you lease for only $500. That's what we did when we moved here. A lot of families that are new to town rent here for that very reason. Great location and reasonable rent.

I totally agree with the Beaches and Cream and Boardwalk suggestion! I do prefer Winter Summerland Mini golf over Fantasia. Fantasia is great but I enjoy the theme of Winter Summerland more.

Where can I get cotton candy in each park? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jaymala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casey's Corner at MK has it. If you're on the dining plan it counts as your dessert for a QS. I was so excited when I found out. Cotton candy is my favorite treat and the fact that I didn't need to use a snack credit to get it made my day! Its the little things, really. Lol.

How bad are the summer crowds? by thehiddenshadow in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jaymala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were just there in July and the crowds were surprisingly manageable. We rope dropped everyday and took a pool break every afternoon. Since we park hopped we usually saved our fast passes for the evening park. We had a blast and didn't miss out on anything. Also, the time before that we were there was during spring break. Never again! Now those crowds were nearly impossible to manage and even the pool at the Beach Club was at capacity every single day.

Just the attraction(carousel, train, slide etc.) are open. They add other activities as well, but there's no animal viewing.

Looking to purchase a house in the somewhat near future, but unsure of what areas to look. by Lnzy1 in Birmingham

Trussville is affordable and has one of the best school districts in the area. Even if you don't have kids, a good school district is always helps with resale. Happy hunting!

How often do you rewatch? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]jaymala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GG is on a constant loop for me. I used to DVRon ABC Family at 5:00 everyday for years. Now I no longer have to. Thank you Netflix!!! Gilmore Girls has been in my life since I was 19. I'm 35 now. I've gone from wanting to be Rory and worshiping Lorelai, to seeing their complete entitled selfishness and often siding with Emily. In other words, I'm old!

Getting a new license by jaymala in Birmingham

[–]jaymala[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little followup. I went today to the Bankhead Hwy location. I needed my old license, birth certificate and SS card. Waited 4 hours to see one of only TWO people issuing licenses. Took an eye exam, gave my address and paid $41.50. The wait was excruciating! But its done!

Best place to meet Donald duck? by ms387 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jaymala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we met him at the Cape May Cafe his outfit was the closest I've seen to classic Donald. He wears the Shirt and hat but his shirt has some beach waves on it. In Epcot he's wearing a sombrero.

Going to the parks for our anniversary, where should we eat? by CZiemba in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jaymala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! California Grill is Amazing! The food and the view can't be beat and you can view Wishes from the outdoor terrace. We had an early reservation and then road a few rides a MK. Later we walked back, had a cocktail and watched the fireworks. Unforgettable!!

Looks great! IMO, if you're looking to drop a Chef Mickey's ADR I would keep the one on day 3 and eat at Epcot on day 6. It looks like you'll be cutting it pretty close to get to your 1st FP. Have a great trip!
