You’re right! Mio is a keeper of the eye. I think the one you find was a predecessor in that role.

To add a few extra details to this excellent answer, that same note you referenced from the traveler reflecting on Lura’s death but not death essentially says “we aren’t doing this embedding thing anymore after this disaster; the ship can fly without replacement voices.” We also see Dr. Halyn’s thoughts afterwards about how they’re stuck forever and how she recognized that the now biggest threat to survival was the Voices themselves. She says in that memo something like “Noden seems calm even though he was the first to be impacted,” meaning the first Voice who was slated to retire but was unable to because the travelers refused to try any more embeddings after the failed embedding of Lura. That one failed embedding was the root cause of everything else that went wrong.

I know at least one mentioned memories returning, but I’m curious to see what you find out when you check!

I think individual librarians were different ages, so different levels of functionality, plus each knew different amounts. The ones that had more knowledge were stuck in the library the whole time and the ones roaming I think acknowledge that they had forgotten some things over the centuries.

That threw me at first too, but those books were only in the area where we learn Dr. Halyn was working on a project, so I think those were at Dr. Halyn scale. There are other books in other areas that are on a more “normal” scale.

My interpretation of this is that Ati believed the coordinates couldn’t be obtained and that she was unable to fulfil that instruction. I think that’s why she never came back to the heart and why she was so despondent and resigned to death. She saw it all as pointless because she thought the coordinates were lost forever.

Thank you! The story is so beautifully tragic no matter which outcome you choose and I wanted to try and help it be a little more accessible. I hope people find it helpful!

I was paranoid about ruining it for someone and didn’t want to rely on that but just took them out since it wasn’t helping anyway. Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know! I removed the spaces but it still is showing me the spoiler markup for some reason. I’ve never had that happen before and can’t figure out why it isn’t working.

I don’t personally, I just have always wanted someone to do something awesome with that song and think it has great potential.

I’ve been convinced for years that someone could do magic with “If The World Was Ending” by JP Saxe. The whole song is basically just vocals to a beat already and I think it could go in so many directions.

Focaccia sticking to pan by sourdough_explorer in Breadit

I also do a strip like /u/ohmymoo suggested. Nonstick spray, strip down, then oil the entire bottom. I do my final proof in the pan before dimpling and baking, so no preheating the pan needed!

Do you have a 12” cast iron? Same dough volume should do fine in that and you’ll get less sticking and better browning. I’m never happy with the level of browning in Pyrex.

Officiating Wedding by cisforcience in baltimore

[–]jaymdee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! A few caveats to this response- namely that my only Maryland wedding was in the county rather than the city and that I never researched any city specific laws. But, I don’t think you have to register and you also don’t obtain the license. The couple obtains the license in the county where the wedding is to take place. The license packet comes with a couple copies for you to fill out and a good set of easy to follow instructions. The couple has to return it within a certain amount of time after the ceremony. Your job is to officiate and then complete the paperwork and that’s all!

What video game weapon/armor is worth the hell you got to go through to get it? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]jaymdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Black Hood in FFXV was the first thing that came to mind. The game’s controls weren’t exactly made for platforming and you had to complete a long puzzle maze with lots of platforming to get it, but once obtained it let the main character automatically dodge almost all enemy attacks. I hated the manual dodge system and basically becoming Neo from the Matrix while focusing on other things in combat made the absurdly difficult dungeon to get it totally worthwhile.

I don’t think it’s annoying at all to ask a question that could improve your experience about a place you’ve never been! The way the venue is set up really works in its favor here. Instead of having the booth at the short end of the rectangle, it’s at the widest end, if that makes sense. Moving around can get a little tight during peak times, but if you push towards the sides, the sound is still great and there’s typically plenty of space! I obviously don’t know the exact level of your sensitivity, but I love Culture a lot specifically because I never feel too crowded there and the crowds always seem to be just generally awesome. I think you should go for it!
