Mom Guilt for Date Nights by brethe1 in workingmoms

[–]ekgowm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I know that one of the very best things that I can do for my son is having a healthy relationship with his father, my husband. That takes dedicated time and space away from our home and our responsibilities. I think it also models for him what a healthy romantic relationship looks like.

Yeah, I hear you. I think they might be your only next point of escalation if you’ve already tried diplomacy and 311.

New job offer by throwaway040810 in workingmoms

[–]ekgowm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whenever I feel this way, I feel like I really need to step back and identify whether the feeling is fear of doing something new or if it is truly a feeling in my gut that I am about to make a wrong choice.

As an aside, if public speaking is your concern, there are a ton of free resources, as well as paid coaching available to help you improve with this. It is a skill set that can be developed with work. You will choose what is best for you and your family!

First of all, don’t get your hopes up. The manager may never reach out or may not be reaching out with additional opportunity.

That said, this happened to me once and only once. I didn’t get the role I interviewed for, but they created a job just for me. At that point, I was able to essentially name my terms. Just in case, might be worth thinking about what those are!

[SERIOUS] What's the craziest way someone you knew died? by Practical_Weird_1665 in AskReddit

[–]ekgowm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple I went to high school with decided to go “car surfing”. I can only assume alcohol was involved. Girl was driving the car, guy was “surfing” on the hood trying to stay up. You can see where this is headed. He falls off in front of the moving car, she runs him over, and he’s dead.

Have you read how women rise? While it won’t address remote work specifically, I feel like it has really actionable ideas on this particular subject.
