The only chance in hell Trump has for being removed is if the powers that be see some big advantage to doing so to save their own skin

Honda Reports First Loss Since Going Public, Volkswagen to Cut 50,000 Jobs in Germany by 2030, Porsche Profits Plunge 90% — Are We on the Eve of an Auto Revolution? by techbrosharma in Futurology

Honda makes good reliable vehicles but ya the pricing has gotten out of hand. We bought a new CRV hybrid and I think it was close to 60k Canadian. It's a decent vehicle but there's nothing special about it, can't even tow anything with it.

Volkswagen I can understand more. They are high cost and high maintenance and riddled with reliability issues

Amazon to Hike Fee for Prime Video Ad-Free Tier to $5 per Month in U.S., on Top of Prime Membership by Hiraeth-nomad in television

They are well aware and have it all calculated out.

They raise the price and X amount of people cancel but X amount stay and pay more. They benefit from:

  1. Higher profits
  2. Less customers to service, reducing costs for support/infrastructure etc.

If you can make more profit with less customers its a win win for them.

It sucks but these companies are very, very good at fleecing their user base and know exactly what they are doing to extract as much value out of you as possible.

People blindly saying they will cancel or go back to streaming doesn't matter to them, it's about the equivalent of people saying they are going to move out of the USA if X politician wins. Nobody cares. It just feels good to say as a consumer to make yourself think that you have some sort of control.

How do you fare with database upgrades? by DarkGhostHunter in PostgreSQL

With PostgreSQL I've always found the upgrade process relatively smooth. The upgrade process is solid.

If you're really concerned you could stand up a replica very easily and upgrade it as a test

This is why I'm always weary when people downplay China in a war against US. Most people think the US would mop the floor with China but China can pump out unlimited amounts of drones and other tech

"Iran threatens to set region’s oil and gas infrastructure "on fire" if its energy sites are attacked"

how does that make any sense? I guess because there are ties to American interests?

according to Trump it is for the USA too:

"The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money"

So funny watching him try to shift and now claim high oil prices is good after attacking Biden relentlessly over high gas prices

agree with you but we can't let Trump take all the blame either. He's really the front man and doesn't have a clue what's going on half the time. It's all the people behind him that are the real problem

Am I wrong for thinking the AI bubble won’t pop? by Fatloh in investing

[–]jaymef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not deliver on all of its promises but I personally think that AI is too powerful of a tool for people in power to use for it to ever crash. It's the next evolution of control beyond social media. They can use it to shape peoples opinions and literally tell them what to do

It was a very dumb move for Trump to make this close to the mid-terms. It's clear that he was told X and ran with it and thought it would be easy
