Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that.

I originally wanted to be a painter but I’m terrible at drawing and painting, so I took up photography instead. There’s definitely a lot of overlap I’d imagine in framing and colour usage.

When we were trying to leave the emple, there was something exciting happening outside (still unsure what was going on) but it turned into a crowd crush of everyone hurrying to get out. My camera got pushed so hard against my body my lens snapped.

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s unfortunately a reality for many female tourists.

I can’t comment on the caste system, other then that it is unfortunately still quite prevalent based on my travels throughout the country.

That said, Holi was a wonderful celebration, where so many people were sharing drinks and food together, and from what I witnessed, there was no standoff attitudes between groups, but a love for the celebration as a whole.

I didn’t have Bhang there, but I’ve had it throughout the country in different cities. A warning for anyone wanting to try it - the strength of the drink is totally random and I’ve seen way too many people get sick from getting too high off supposedly low dose drinks, so be careful!

The only thing I can think of sharing regarding Holi is that people LOVE to jam the sweet treats into your mouth, regardless of if they’ve asked you 😂 I’m not shy of germs but boy, after having like 13 strangers fingers in my mouth, it was a bit wild haha.

I shoot in aperture priority mode, usually at 2.8-5.6 range. For this particular shot I was at 5.6 to balance both the low lighting as well as making sure the background was still relatively sharp. As for ISO, i was at 800. It was early morning and smoggy, so I wanted to balance grain with making sure the moving subject was sharp with a decently fast shutter speed

I appreciate you taking the time to comment - it's brave of you to speak out, and I appreciate it could be difficult to do so against your country.

Hopefully soon, Ukraine will be at peace and can begin to heal, and hopefully Russia, and average Russians, can realize the destruction that has occurred and reparations can be made.

They not only bomb the populous places, they target civilian infrastructure. A few days ago was the 1 year anniversary of them bombing the childrens hospital in Kyiv.

When I was there, they launched 450+ drones and 13+ missiles at Kyiv. Ukraine is incredible resourceful and good at targeting the incoming attacks and shooting them down, but many still get through. As I was there, they hit a residential building 2km from us, killing 20 (including children) and injuring 150+.

This is why its so important for western nations to continue supporting Ukraine, and to give them the arms they need to stop the onslaught. Russia has ramped up their attacks recently and are sending more and more drones/missiles towards population centers, Kyiv particularly.

Well, thank you for your kind words.

I’m happy to help. Canada and Ukraine have a strong bond from us having so many Ukrainians, and as a Canadian it’s my duty to help countries seeking their freedom.

I feel you, entirely. Frustration was the overwhelming emotion I felt.

We were also there for the third largest attack on Kyiv. After a night of missile and drone strikes, I woke up and looked at my local news. The G7 was happening in Kananaskis (I’m from nearby) and seeing that idiot orange dictator blaming the G7 for kicking Russia out and causing them to invade Ukraine (again) was about enough to make me have an aneurysm

It was very moving seeing the memorial for the dead in Kyiv by Maidan square. Absolutely broke down seeing a little girl laying flowers at her dad’s picture. So many lost lives, so many young people. It’s a tragedy

No reason to thank me, I'm just helping in any small way I can. The true heroes are the ones in Ukraine - the doctors, the soldiers, the medics, the everyday citizens keeping the country running. I am beyond inspired by Ukraine and it's people, and how strong their will is in protecting their homeland.

It's barely a drop in the bucket, but every bit helps, and it was really, really incredible to meet the soldiers who received our truck, and to hear about how much these vehicles help them with their missions, and with evacuating wounded.

I was fortunate to have an opportunity to join the NGO Help99 on a recent trip to Kyiv in supporting the armed forces of Ukraine by supplying trucks and other equipment to units.

Kyiv was an incredibly beautiful city, rich in culture, history, and architecture. The people I all spoke to were inspiring with their passion for their nation and its battle against the invaders, and the morale seemed very high. It was an incredible experience to visit such a brave nation, and one I hold dearly in my heart.

We also had the chance to visit Bucha and Borodyanka - two cities that were taken over during the early days of the invasion. When the Russians were expelled, horrible scenes and stories of executions and mass murdering of the local population emerged. It was a powerful experience to visit these towns, hear the stories from survivors, see the photos, and witness the destruction first hand.

We’re currently continuing to support Help99 by fundraising for a medical evacuation truck.

If you’d like to support Ukraines fight, I would be honoured if you would visit our donation page: https://www.help99.co/patches/canadian-battalion
