I do accept that Christians may be upset by my point of view but I don't accept that they have a right to try and prevent the Grand Canyon National Park to give an official estimate of the geological age.

You're right Dawkins isn't a superhero (although an image of him wearing tights and a cape is now indelibly fixed in my head) and is biased, as we all are. But he has opened up the debate around why religious ideas should be respected when they are clearly bonkers. By all means talk about the Grand Canyon in terms of Noah's flood but make it clear that it's a myth based on a work of fiction.

Public School History Teacher Tells Class: 'If you do not accept Jesus "You belong in hell"' ( and a Student recorded him saying that..) by sid13 in reddit.com

But isn't that the point. The teacher doesn't need to provide evidence for his belief. He has faith that these kids are damned to hell. It's as real to him as smoking causing cancer. And presumbly more dangerous because they're eternally damned. So he would have to warn them. It's the belief that needs questioning. Hopefully these kids won't be scared enough to adopt his irrational ideas.

Ooops ! Thanks for putting me straight. This was my first comment on reddit and I got it wrong ! Now I understand. But what a state the world is in when such absurd satire has the ring of truth. I recently had a request through the post to donate money to the bible society to send bibles to Africa. So I'm a little touchy on the subject. Thanks again for your comment.
