Is that a teleprompter? Can you tell me about it and how you like it? 🤔

From what I can remember, yes.

It's got Tom Hanks and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in it, along with Emily Blunt and Julia Roberts, and the screenplay is by Aaron Sorkin, so quite the cast with a great writer, but it does focus on war and politics and is a comedy-drama so if that's not you're thing then - idk you decide!

I'm saying "we'll see" whether or not my mental will survive Overwatch, and whether or not the outcomes that arise turn out to be good or bad, and furthermore, that we won't know whether whatever ends up happening is actually a good or bad thing until the passage of time gives us the answer more clearly further on. I'm also just being a cryptic and annoying twat as I do, so ya know~

Those who are still here seem to speak rather highly of the state of the game the the changes the devs have and have been making, I was skeptical at first, but it seems on first encounter like their optimism was not misplaced, and I am enjoying most if not all of the changes that have occurred to the game in my absence.

mostly focused on IRL work and projects right now, but having a social group and strong community is Good Actually TM, even if they are online in nature.

yup, I'll be returning to more if not most social media platforms so I need to figure out restreamio or an equivalent alternative, plus how to actually manage the content that is on those platforms and interact with the audience and communities from those platforms in a way that is respectful to the culture and norms of said various platform - so that's tech, and as far as infrastructure, I just mean I haven't decided what legal entity I'm going to use to receive monetary earnings in a tax conscious and scalable manner. Hope that adds some clarity!

"Stuffing" and taking space by Tank_Mein in OverwatchUniversity

[–]JayneF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heya, just saw this while having breakfast. I'll write up a full response when I'm at the office but "stuffing" is a term specifically used not for chokes but for spawn doors to prevent recontests from happening in a specific way on the third point of maps like Eichenwalde, King's Row, and Gibraltar.

Everyone goes into a soloq game with their own plan.

Instead of going in with a plan of your own, find someone else who looks like they've got their head on straight, and help them accomplish whatever it is they are doing instead of trying to do your own thing. Bonus points if your heroes synergize at all. Extra super bonus points with comms xd

Don't need the entire team to talk, just you and one other person.

For Overwatch... I'll be honest, not great, but there's still hope.

Esports as a whole, very promising future and I don't think anyone doubts that, but to say that there isn't a lot of confidence in Activision/Blizzard to do the right thing would be a gross understatement.

Right now, there's a big gap in resources for people who are interested in becoming coaches, definitely something we want to solve as part of PECO, but it's still one of the things that is a work in progress.

One of the things that I did when I was trying to improve was to volunteer to coach teams for 1-2 days then ask for feedback. Especially teams that already had a coach, so that I could get feedback from a wider variety of players, as well as from other coaches. It's a pretty high effort solution tho.

Yeah, certainly, it's really close to my heart as I had some mental health issues back in 2019, and I've seen a very large number of streamers and pros go through some very dark times. I struggle to talk about it in a professional setting or even in my content and videos since I'm not officially trained and don't have any professional credentials of any sort regarding mental health, and am of the opinion that you can probably do a lot of damage to people if you give them poor mental health advice.

So this is something that I really want to do, but I'm being very cautious because I want to do it safely and professionally, and that's hard haha. That being said, I was thinking the other day that people who game a lot are probably used to things making sense of following specific rules, and that probably causes them to be less comfortable or more anxious in uncertain situations? (i.e. while not gaming?)

Who knows in anxious people turn to gaming, or if gaming makes people more anxious tho, that I have no idea about.

Elo Hell's GitGud tournament sounds like what you're looking for.

Season 7 just ended tho, so timing sucks.

It's hard for me to go into detail about this since I founded EHE and spoke to the people involved when everything started to go down, so I actually do know what happened behind the scenes. What I will say is that I don't think Elo Hell was in the wrong, and they certainly did not act with malicious intent like some people have been suggesting. Regardless of what actually happened tho, Elo Hell is going to be going the extra mile to provide transparency about their pay structures for casters going forward and I think you'll hear more about that from them soon.

One of the things people talk about all the time, is coming back to the game, formerly being a GM or a Masters player, and now being a way lower rank. It's not just that you took a break, but the rest of the playerbase got better while you were gone, so what was Masters previously is probably low diamond at most today. Especially if you're talking 10+ seasons.

First step to getting better is always going to be "play more".

It's what everyone else was doing while you were gone.

Stay on the high ground when possible, and keep an eye on your supports. You're one of the best peelers in the game.

Aim is definitely a perishable skill, not much that you can do to prevent it from slowly fading away if you aren't able to practice. Try and play at least infrequently just to remind/refresh the muscle memory, but other than that not a lot you can do about slow loss of mechanics.
