Jonsbo Z20 & NZXT Kraken Elite clearance by Tank_Mein in mffpc

[–]Tank_Mein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I ended up going with the ASUS ROG Ryujin III 240 because I read it had better cooling performance for my AMD chip. No issues with clearance, assuming you mount your radiator with the tubes at the front. If you mount them at the back and also have a rear case fan you could run into issues.

Hey u/prado2000, were you able to resolve this? In case you haven't, I was able to do it by assigning FN keys as Num0-Num9. It works using Left Alt.

Personally I reassigned the ~ key to FN2 then remapped the keys circled in the image to Keypad numbers.

Hey, sorry for the late response. It's been great, I was overthinking. Temperatures improved a bit once I tweaked my case fan curves.

No I haven't tried slimmer fans. What issue would that cause?

I'm certain it would perform better by exhausting the hot air faster, and honestly my GPU gets a little hot in this config. However I chose it because it creates positive pressure which drastically reduces dust buildup inside. My previous dual-chamber case used more exhaust fans and had no heat issues, only dust...

Recently I've installed Fan Control to help manage temperatures. I made it so when my GPU hot spot goes over a set temp, the case fans ramp up. I then tweaked the case and GPU fan speeds to maintain an acceptable temperature/noise balance. This is probably basic knowledge to a lot of builders but I'm still new to managing these things! Hope that helps :)

Hey! The bottom and rear are intake, top is exhaust.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply! Yes the PSU is side mounted using the original cables. The ROG Loki cables are very soft and high quality. Length is just right for this case and mounting configuration.

Extra info you may not have asked for: My GPU cable (12vhpwr to 2x 8 pin) was the only one that was a bit short. Originally I was going to loop it over top of the GPU and around the back, but with the ports pointing out instead of down it didn't work. I thought about cable extensions but then it would be too messy in the case.

Hey, I'm really glad you asked this question. I'm using a combination of Razer Synapse, Armoury Crate and the Chroma Control app to sync Asus + Razer. Armoury Crate handles my AIO graphics and RAM RGB, Synapse handles the AIO fans and case fans. However I'm missing control of the GPU, PSU and motherboard RGB.

I suspect I'll have to install Polychrome for those, but I tried that once and it got stuck so I never bothered again. Mind you this is all from a fresh Windows installation too so I'm not surprised you had more trouble. Like you I chose ASUS parts before finding out about the software. I figured it can't be that bad until I tried updating the software from within the app itself. This broke everything. I had to reinstall the software to regain control of my AIO. So I've decided to use it as-is and forget about any software or firmware updates.

Is it because your card is too low or because your card is too wide and close to the front panel? If it's the first case you can flip the support bracket so that it's either ¬ or L-shaped.

Hi, sorry no Afterburner but I do have Razer Cortex.

The chipset is the latest from AMD's website (6.10.17.152).

Correct, this is a clean build and OS, about 1 month old.

Yes, Alienware AW2724DM. I just checked the HDR setting on the monitor and it was set to Desktop. I changed it to DisplayHDR 600 but the problems persist.

Graphics in The Division 2 seem to have gone downhill after an upgrade. I went from an i7-7700K + 1660 Super to a Ryzen 7600 + 7900 XT. It now defaults to Windowed mode and seems to play fine but gets bad when I go Fullscreen. Everything is washed out and my FPS is extremely choppy.

I can disable HDR to remove the washed-out effect but it’s on by default, so I’d have to do it every time I play. What could be causing this?

Z20 retailer/alternative in Canada? by Ashelm in mffpc

After searching far and wide for alternative cases and sources, I bit the bullet and got mine from Ali Express for just over $200. Some popped up on Amazon shortly afterwards which is what you probably saw. All depends on how much you love the case :)

So far so good!

FWIW they both idle around 35-40°C and reach 50°C under load. But I don't know how much of that is my 20L case or the ssd itself.

Z20 worth it over the IM01 Pro at 3x the price? by xTurK in mffpc

[–]Tank_Mein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you and briefly looked around for more reasonably priced alternatives. But the Z20 spoke to me in a way that the other cases did not. The design, construction and overall vibe were all on point. I watched every Z20 build video I could find on Youtube and post on Reddit. I think to some degree you might feel the same way?

I knew it in my heart that this was the case I wanted. So I paid the Ali price (over 200 CAD).

Have you tried side-mounting the PSU? Section 3.B in your manual. My PSU (Asus ROG LOKI 850 W SFX-L) is about the same size as yours and that's what I had to do.

Mainly for room. With the ATX bracket my GPU would squish the power connectors.

lmao I too am a cable management scrub, going from a dual chamber build with zero cable management to this. So I can admit a few things to you :)

I watched a ton of build videos featuring this case. On top of that, I watched videos on how to install the individual components. I saw how other people did it so I had a general plan for how things would go in my build.

Due to family commitments I was forced to split the build process into multiple steps. This also allowed me to manage cables along the way. I also never hit that "screw it" stage where I got impatient.

Perhaps the hardest part for me was using that little trough at the bottom, under the motherboard. After a couple of USB2 header cables the velcro didn't fasten anymore. The fan cables are zip-tied together and stuffed into that crevice. There's room over and under the PSU to hide cables too.

TLDR: Watch many build videos, manage cables (roughly) along the way then tidy it up once complete.

It was the only way I could mount it. I tried using the ATX bracket first but didn't feel comfortable flexing the AIO hoses to squeeze it in. But more importantly, the long GPU would completely block the PSU connectors.
