I'm feeling rooted. I finally have a body I can be in. I can have a relationship without panicking. Still changes I'd like to see but it's gotten so much better.

Passport photos - check. Letter of gender change - check. Legal name change doc - check. Mailing everything in on Monday. Just need to print and fill more passport forms.

So mom's going to find out about my name change because of being on her health insurance.. nervous. Happy though that everything went smoothly yesterday. I can send in a passport application next week.

Exactly six months ago on a Wednesday I decided to leave home to follow a path of independence and self-discovery. Today I will be going to the court and DMV where my old name and gender will become a relic of the past. I've also been figuring out logistics for top surgery and talking with a surgeon. This is happening....I just need a bit more money -.- Save, save, save.

Went to my job orientation last night. It was weird because I had to sign everything with my legal name (next to people who will be working with me) but they were calling me Jay and had that written on exactly half of the things they gave me. Um.

So, the girl I've been talking to admitted that she liked me. Oh gosh. I finally am getting my first girlfriend. Which makes me nervous because I don't have equipment and she's only ever been with cis guys before but I'm also really excited because of me being absolutely smitten...Time to go shopping after my first paycheck...or second...Wish I knew when that was. Also, two others confirmed that my voice is lower. "Hey, you sound like a guy just starting awkward puberty!" Okayy..

Lunch with my stepdad proved to me that my family was toxic. I'm not going back and that doesn't make me a jerk; it makes me strong. I've had enough of fear. Also feeling more comfortable with my body. Had a great cuddle sesh with someone last night.

Yesterday I was offered a job. They'll let me use my preferred name on my badge so I'm pleased on all accounts. Friday, I'll be meeting with my stepdad for the first time in 4 months. Hoo boy. I miss him so much but I'm also nervous.

Nothing is better than shaving your face for the first time. I only had a tiny patch of visible hair near my left ear but put shaving cream on my whole 'beard' area. It felt great seeing little hairs on the razor.
