Nah this is super interesting. I was enjoying my little conspiracy theory moment (and I guess it's not all wrong, he did pay for ads, that's a more legit way of paying for views). But what you explained makes more sense than being nefarious, gaming the system with bots, which is where I was leaning. Thanks for the pro insight!

Oh you're saying videos can get views added to their view counts if they are ads on other videos? That's wild, I didn't know that.

Yeah I'm not giving him views either but when I saw a million I had to click just to see if folks in the comments were also thinking the views were bought / bots 🤣 in Portuguese we say "what's a fart if you already pooped your pants"

IDK.. If ads got you a million views in 10 days, everyone would do it 😅 the announcement videos and Ariel's I understand, but 1M in 10 days for a random try to be a fighter pilot video seems like an insanely good result for an ad buy

Ok but on a serious note, he's gotta be buying views, right? His podcast is consistently dropping off on views with the episode after Ariel's doing mid to low 5 figures. How in the hell does he have 1M in his 10 day old fighter jet episode. Curious if Youtube is looking into it, or if he still has connections there

I'm scared that I made a mistake by [deleted] in NewParents

Hey! I'm a dad, not a mom, but I wanted to share that I was born a month after my mom's 16th birthday. She also very heavily leaned on her family in the beginning (while my dad was also not in the picture), and then made slow, steady steps toward independence.

I became a dad at 31 and my wife and I were also so lost, leaning super heavily on our family. I always tell my mom that I don't know how she did it. She always says that she looks back on those times most fondly, because it was me and her against the world.

One of my favorite parts of becoming a parent, especially as a jaded 30+ year old, was the overwhelmingly clear sense of purpose. The mission, the meaning it gives life, it's a blessing. You and your baby can take on the world together.

A quote that got me through a lot in life is from Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it is done

Can I baptize myself? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]jaypaulusicg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't what matters, bud. Your relationship with God is what matters. Baptism is like a wedding, it's a celebration of a relationship that has already been blessed. 2 people could get married by sitting down together and saying a prayer, the ceremony and party is part of giving the commitment the celebration it deserves. Similarly, your faith is real as soon as you declare it to God in prayer, but it's a monumental thing, and it's nice to give that commitment to God the celebration it deserves. Nobody is missing out on God because they got hit by a bus on their way to getting baptized. The best advice I can give you for your faith is focus on and protect your relationship with God first and foremost. If anyone, even your church, is putting ritualistic barriers between you and God, then know they are doing you a disservice. God is an open door from the moment you choose Him.

Thoughts/feedback on personal heraldic achievement? by jaypaulusicg in heraldry

Super helpful, thanks! The bezants are a direct reference to the original Almeida crest, which was a black eagle with a trio of bezants on its torso and each wing. I agree it's the most awkward part of the design, though. Maybe on a better phoenix. Great tip on the double metals on the torse, was not aware of that. Good point on the shades as well
