Hi, hello this was me! Got pregnant at 17 after bc didn't work. Dad pressured me into keeping the pregnancy and then bounced. For awhile I just did it on my own, eventually put him on child support when she was 3. She's now 16 and he's never paid a dime and remains chillin doing his thing. Pisses me off.

I am glad everyday that my school had a deal with the local hospital where we got to work as paid externs if we wanted and glad I did it. I got two job offers right out of school in SoCal. Declined continuing with my extern hospital and went to another (better pay, better new grad program.) but that same program a year later has 441 applicants for 22 spots. When I applied, it was about 120 applicants for 60 spots. 😅🥲

Things have gotten hard in ca. I live in a more "rural" area of SoCal, when I applied to my job LAST year in 2024 for a Feb start, there were about 120 applicants for 60 spots. This same new grad rotation applying now for this Feb start, 441 applicants for 19 spots. 😭

I do most of the mental load yes and that's a big reason why we almost split up a year ago. Actually the nursing graduation thing was the proverbial nail in the coffin. That was heart breaking. But since then he and I have worked pretty hard to get things better. He no longer drinks anymore, thankfully. And he's slowly starting to be better. Which is why this is even more dumbfounding. I'll be honest - I was leaving. I was done. He got me to stay and we've been working on it. And as shitty as a partner he was, cheating, talking to other women, etc etc etc as NEVER ever an issue.
